I have misplaced my original Canon genuine battery. They seem to run around $50 - $60 for the genuine replacements. Before shelling out that kind of expense (I need two) I was interested in hearing from anyone who has used any of the generic alternatives on the market.

Being able to read the battery life in the camera is important. Not so much being able to use the Canon charger. These generics usually sell along with a compatible charger.

I use once called Powerextra with my camera and they have worked great.

My work associate is loaning me one of her Neewer replacements. She says they ARE fully decoded and
will display battery level. No warning messages, though. And you can't use the Canon charger. I'll let everyone know how it goes next week after my shoot.

I use three (1 canon 2 Wasabi) (1 canon charger and 1 Wasabi charger)
Canon works great one Wasabi almost as good, second Wasabi barley holds charge for a day, only carry as a back up.
Canon charger charges all very well, Wasabi battery's just a little while longer to charge, Wasabi charger does not charge anything a complete waste of timewaste of time
