These hawks perch on the balcony railing to scan the parkland below for their next meal.

Excellent shot. Looks like a red tail to me, by the black belly band Since they have been become so abundunant they have moved into the urban life. Excellent shot. Was this off your balcony?

Yes, snapped it with a cell phone looking through a heavily tinted dbl pane window. My wife went outside to shoo it away and it just stared at her. Even a couple crows harassing it didn't seem to phase it. This happens most every spring when the crows have hatchlings in their nests in the trees below. The hawks are interesting and nice to see out there but do leave a mess.

Guess you avoid a lot of travel when birds like this sit on your railing. Nice!

Cool shot. I had not realized that RT Hawks had become urbanized

I've missed shots like this before so think I better dig up an old body with a shorter lens than the 70-200mm on the one sitting by my chair. Couldn't back up enough to get much of the bird in the frame much less any of the background showing the perspective. Even with the wide cell phone lens the crow sitting 6 feet away screaming at the hawk could not be included in any of the shots.

Nice shot. I was mowing pastures this past Saturday and the RT Hawks loved it. I don't know if I saw 2 or 3 of them a dozen times each or if there was just a whole lot of them. Amazing how close the tractor would come to them before they took off.

It appears that you were in my old neighborhood when you took that photo. I believe I can see the tower to Will Rogers and the old coliseum in the background, which means you are close to Fort Worth Camera.

My office was at the interesection of West 7th, University and Camp Bowie for nearly 30 years and we lived in
Monticello area until moving to the country 23 years ago.

You live in a great place. Have a good day. And thanks for the photo.

Yep, you got it. We live on the 17th floor at Trinity Terrace and the camera was looking south west.

Great place to live. Have had many friends there over the years. And may wind up there myself one of these days. Get to Fort Worth every couple of weeks. Will be at Del Frisco's tomorrow night for a special event after stopping by The Meat Board and picking up some steaks and Central Market for some fresh vegetables. Fort Worth is the best place anywhere. Have a good day.

Agree!

We moved here from our ranch out in the western part of Lampasas county a few years ago when my wife's eye sight started failing. We raised big Brahma Hereford cross cattle and figured being in our eighth decade was time to try a little gentler lifestyle. Couldn't be more happy with our choice of cities.

Think about me the next time you are enjoying being out on that tractor in the country terrain and fresh air!
