Meaghan Markell's controversial comments about racism in the Royal Family had to have been referring to Prince Phillip who died recently. And I can see her point in making this charge. It turns out England has a Joe Biden they would like to keep in their basement and it turns out to have been Prince Phillip. Here are a few of his gems.

To the President of Nigeria, wearing traditional robes, in 2003. 'You look like you're ready for bed!'

To Aboriginal leader William Brin in Queensland, 2002: 'Do you still throw spears at each other?'

To a British student trekking in Papua New Guinea, during an official visit in 1998. 'You managed not to get eaten then?'

To a British tourist during a tour of Budapest in 1993. 'You can't have been here that long — you haven't got a pot belly.'

To a meeting of the World Wildlife Fund in 1986. 'If it has got four legs and it is not a chair, if it has got two wings and it flies but is not an aeroplane, and if it swims and it is not a submarine, the Cantonese will eat it.'

To a British student on a visit to China in 1986. 'If you stay here much longer, you will go home with slitty eyes.'

To a Kenyan woman in 1984. 'If it doesn't fart or eat hay, she isn't interested.'

To 13-year-old Andrew Adams who wanted to go into space, 'You're too fat to be an astronaut.'

Speaking in 2000 — 18 years before his grandson Harry married Meghan Markle. 'People think there's a rigid class system here, but dukes have been known to marry chorus girls. Some have even married Americans.'

On the Royal Family's finances in 1969. We go into the red next year ... I shall have to give up polo.

These are but a small selection. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9455329/How-Prince-Philips-one-liners-brightened-day-critics-called-gaffes.html

For years the British press let Prince Phillip off the hook and let him get away with unashamedly politically incorrect comments that we would call racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, non-diverse, and snobbish.

Sound familiar to what’s going on in U.S. politics? Go back and look at all Joe Biden’s ‘gaffes’ which are really Freudian slips, and they are almost all racial. But Biden and the Democrats are treated with kid gloves by the Main Stream press and let off the hook the same way as the Royals, only here it's because of Liberal privilege. They are held to different standards and they in turn act as the elites they think they are, a class above common Americans. They view themselves in the same vein as the elite ordained ruling class: above us, above the law, and above criticism.

Well said and proven by moving the MLB game from one of the largest black communities in Georgia and giving it to a predominantly white city with the same voter ID requirements as Georgia just passed. Such a fraud and so unfair to the community and people of Georgia.

I think Trump was more like Prince Phillip than Biden is.

Now, on the topic of Prince Phillip...

What did Queen Elizabeth say to Prince Phillip on their wedding night?
"Mount Batten... the 'whole' of England lies before you."

You're not flogging Hunter Biden today? Why not?

I'll agree with you that he's not fit to be POTUS.

Do we impeach the bastard and lock 'em up? Lynch him like Pence? Invade him like the capitol?

You've been sheltered. Philip is well known for foot in mouth. It's one of the highlights of a royal visit for the press.

In PNG the Prince is known as ... "Man Belong Queen"

Did he call Hispanics "breeders"? I'm going to give your parents the benefit of the doubt, and assume they did the best they knew how with the baby they were given.

It may have been an interesting post, but I'm not interested in trying to figure out what it was in response to. If you can't be bothered to click "quote reply", I can't be bothered trying to figure it out.

Everybody is wrapped around the axle, but I think the Prince had a great, eccentric sense of humor.

I agree with you that some of Prince Phillip's statements are funny but all humor has to be based in truth a little. And at the root of these so called 'gaffes' which come from his subconscious, they smack of racism, misogyny, and xenophobia. Which brings this back to Joe Bite-Me.

Look at Jim Crow Joe Biden's gaffes, and statements which frankly are Freudian slips revealing the true inner man. And they are All racist. He has been a closet racist covering it up his whole career till these true slips of the mind spew it out such as, "They gonna put you all in chains", showing precisely how he still looks at Blacks.

My point however, is Biden and the Democrats enjoy royal liberal privilege in this country because they suffer no consequences for their racism remarks. They thus think of themselves as elitists who make the rules for others to follow but not them.

Thom, it is the first reply to the thread and it certainly refers to something the OP said.

I think much of what you just said is true as to the origins of humour, the slight element of truth, and the inner feelings.

But you give Trump way too much of a pass on this behaviour from him.

Don Rickles? Beloved by all.

But remember this. If you are talking about Trump, he is and always was a counter-puncher. He never threw the first punch. He learned that growing up and succeeding in NY. He was peace loving but learned if you didn't defend yourself, no one else would either.
