Nice! It is very different from what you have, so tutorial videos are worth finding on YouTube. A selective reading of the manual will help you understand the differences between this and your dSLR. Download the PDF of the manual to your computer and smartphone or tablet if you have one. It will be quite helpful, once you get past any “JEnglish” translation quirks.

Congratulations! Any of the Fuji lens are wonderful. If you want to keep the whole package small look at the 23f2, 35f2, 50f2, and the 16f2.8. The 18-50 is underrated and the 16-80 is phenomenal. Checkout the Fujilove Magazine Readers Group on Facebook and any of the Fujirumours Groups (camera specific).

I agree. To go lighter and smaller I would definitely go the route of the Z50 for everything mentioned above. And I would consider keeping the excellent D7200 either as a backup or to eventually give to your grandchild (if so wanted.) But....Personally I would go with the D500 instead of the Z50. Larger and heavier but would complement your photography and you can use almost all DX and FX lenses. Best of luck.

I'll keep the D7200 It would be hard to part with it altogether.

Thank you, yes I have sought out several tutorials just to get on board with a new system.

All good suggestions, and the 90 f2 (135mm equivalent FF FOV) is an excellent lens also - quickly becoming one of my favorite lenses.

Once you get the basic menu items set up, all the controls you’ll need are on the top of the camera or the lens - very much like a classic SLR. Personally, since I often download via WiFi (be sure to download the Fuji Cam Connect Ap), I have one of the buttons user defined to connect via WiFi with a single button push, so no need to go to the menu to connect.

One last hint: you might try the Fuji version of Capture One (free trial for 30 days). For Fuji raw conversion, I like it better than LR/PS.

Good choices. There are many on the UHH site with the same setup that agree with your choice. I may own a 4/3rds system, but I think you made a good choice for yourself. We hope to see some of the shots once you have a chance to familiarize yourself with your new camera. I don't think you will regret it.

I had a D7200 that I replaced with a D500. Big step up. Last year I bought a D850. Stellar camera. Hardly use my D500. The D7200 is a great camera, but the D850 is one of the best Nikon’s ever.

All good advice, thanks! I am leaning toward lighter as we do a lot of hiking and I'm not afraid of a new system .

"I am leaning toward lighter."

When my 5Dc becomes too heavy for my ageing body to carry, I will know that it's time to switch to more sedentary hobby like reading or watching TV. Harry PS I'm 90, and so far so good.

Having come from a Nikon system to Fuji, I have the following thoughts: The D850 is a great camera but it is big and heavy. You will need to buy new lenses as DX lenses will not cover a full frame sensor. The Fuji is excellent I have an XT2 with several lenses, 23 f2, 27 f2.8,50 f2, and a 55-200 variable aperture zoom. I also have a 90 mm f2 that I am on the fence about keeping. As to the 90, the optics are terrific but it is hard to hold steady, at least for me. In comparison, the 55-200 zoom is image stabilized. You will be able to carry the Fuji with ease and the pictures are excellent, particularly of people. I had a Nikon D750, which I am sorry that I sold but the Fuji is quite good. The main differences are that the Fuji is an APC system and it focuses by wire, i.e., it is electronic. The more that I use the Fuji, the happier I am with my choice. Bottom line is don’t expect to use DX lenses on a Nikon full frame camera. You will be disappointed. I travelled in Portugal with my Fuji and got great pictures (before Covid). At some point, I may switch to a Nikon full frame system but not yet, Best of luck.

Forget about any DSLR. Go buy a mirrorless Nikon or whatever.

No, I have not held either since covid appeared I have been staying close to home. The lighter camera is appealing. I have purchased my camera equipment thru B H Photo and am well satisfied with them. thanks for comment

If you want lighter consider Z50 with kit lenses. It will also work fine with your existing lenses with FTZ adapter but the adapter adds weight.

My current location on the learning curve? Most of the time this site is a friendly place. How can you judge by a few words. Just to let you know I have received many ribbons on my amateur photography I do not pretend to be a Pro. I have been published in many travel magazines and tourism brochures, featured in newspapers, and am asked by organizations to present slide shows on nature and native wildflowers, historical structures, and Church Art for example. So in my exceedingly basic question, this user has gotten her "back up" or maybe My Irish up, ...and yes I already know the answer. Photography has always been a fun hobby and will continue to be.

Hmnnn. You know the answer ? You are accomplished, and well published ? You have ribbons ? You present an apples to oranges question that you already know the answer to ? OTOH you’re clearly not trolling ... so thaz just kinda interesting, and even amusing, isn’t it.
