This is a footbridge crossing a stream that has a spillway. It is on the winding road leaving the Biltmore Mansion. Had I not been sitting in the backseat looking at the scenery of the park I surely would have missed it for it was on a heavily wooded turn which I noticed when I looked back.

Another couple was driving and I had him stop so I could get a shot of this beautiful bridges with the water spilling under it. It was one of those times that I was happy to have my D810 with me.

beautiful shot of the spillway, sippy! sometimes it pays to sit in the back seat!

Thanks ever so much for the kind thoughts of this image of the footbridge at the spillway on the Biltmore Mansion Estate. This was truly one of those magical moments late in the day, a bit over cast, and rain early in the day. The wooded area was quite thick so the shadows were deep where I was standing. I shot this with the Nikon D810 and I keep the ISO low so that I can open up the shadows should I need to rather than a higher ISO which brightens the entire image.

This attached image is sized at 10X8 and it is my gift to you to use as you wish. It is a JPEG image at 300dpi so it should print well for you. Should you wish to have it in a different file format, simply let me know.

The gifts that please me the most to share with others are those that I see through my lens.

You should be able to view this image, double click on it and then right click to "save as". Enjoy!

Thanks, the grounds are quite surine and very inviting. There are many parks in many places yet there is something magical about this estate property with its beauty to be found at every turn of the head.

Thanks, Raymondh. Macro is my passion and wildflowers are at the top of that list with the wonders of the insect world right behind it. Landscapes catch my eye however I cannot control the lighting as I can with macro in my basement so I must wait for those special windows of time and weather and the beauty of the scene to all come together.

Thanks, Quixdraw. I've learned to shot my outdoor pictures in RAW and in Manual Mode and I set the ISO to the camera's lowest (like 100) and to keep the exposure down as well. I don't let the camera do the thinking for me for it wants things to be more "even" throughout the image. The images will always appear to be dark and one may think that they are wrong and to be discarded yet they are full of detail in the shadows and no blown out brights. Once detail is lost in the camera by its decisions there will be no getting it back.

Then I open up the shadows in post and set the blacks and the whites to their low threshold and the images will pop on the screen. If I do my job right there is little if anything to do other than that.

Thanks, MerryTexan. I would be quite sad had I later found that I missed that moment. Driving requires being diligent in watching the road and driving defensively. Being the passenger is where the real sightseeing can take place.
