I was looking for a 77 X 82 step-up ring for my 18mmF:2.8 and when I tried to pay it they said the were closed for some type of holiday. Well I opened google and asked if March 28th is a holiday and there is not one showing. So what gives? I went on ebay and bought one for about half of what B&H wanted.

It's Passover. B&H probably is closed through the end of the holiday which is sundown on April 4 at sundown.

Well I've grown tired of dealing with B&H, seems like every time I want to make purchase they are closed for some reason. Passover is not a national holiday. I understand it is observed on a Sunday but why not be open on Monday? It make no sense.

Pretty sure it makes complete sense to Orthodox Jews.

While your ignorance is not really their problem, they do post the holiday schedule is on their home page and offer to send an email to you when they re-open. Here's a snip:

The holiday of Passover is 8 days. The owners of B&H are religious Jews and they observe the holidays (forgive the pun) religiously. It may be an inconvenience for you, but it speaks volumes for them that they are willing to lose business over their religious beliefs. People who are that religious and actually follow the tenets of their religion are the type of people you should want to deal with. They are the ones who believe in things like honesty and treating others with dignity and humanity. B&H's tremendous reputation for customer service is a result of their beliefs, and I go out of my way to deal with them.

It's Passover. It is the 8 day holiday celebrating the Israelites release from bondage in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea to escape the pharaoh's pursuing army and their 40-year journey through the desert towards the promised land, not to mention a little thing like God's gift of the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai. Not exactly a minor holiday. It always coincides with Easter. The Last Supper was the first evening meal of Passover, called a Seder.

It starts on Sunday this year because that's the way it fell on the Julian / Gregorian calendar we use. The Jewish calendar is lunar with a periodic extra leap month.

Lots of regional and religious holidays are not national holidays. The Passover Seder meal is a very important celebratory dinner with very specifically prescribed rituals. I am not Jewish, but I try to educate myself so I don't sound ignorant when I post on the internet. That's a hint.

If you searched the internet and could not identify March 28th as being a Jewish holiday then you need to work on your search skills. In addition, maybe you should consider trying to be a bit little more tolerant of other people's religious beliefs.
