Has anyone out there been bothered by tiny ants in their homes this Spring? We have been inundated with them and nothing we do will get rid of them for more than a few hours. These are very small and are no larger than a spec of dust and are annoying as hell.
We've had them in the past but, so far, none this year.
If you prowl garage & estate sales you may come across a bottle of Terro. If it's the original (made with arsenic) BUY IT!! That stuff is incredibly effective, and the ants don't develop an immunity to it. A drop or two is all you need, so you don't need to worry about poisoning yourself - but it does help to be careful with the stuff.
Good luck..! We have a colony of the sugar ants that were here when our house was built 40-years ago. Each year they "bring out the dead" and we clear out shovels of them off the patio. It has been estimated from evidence found that ants have existed some 160-million years ago. I suspect that they will be here long after mankind leaves this earth.
Sounds like what we have had around for a couple of years. I make a bait of water, sugar and borax and saturate cotton balls with it. Placing them along the ant trails, they, gather and drink the bait. Then they take it back to the nest for the youngsters. It not 100% but it makes a really big dent in them. Be sure to keep up the baits.

I had a seasonal problem with tiny ants when I moved to Florida. A friend who had been there for years, told me about Tero You can pick it up at Lowes. Home Depot or a Walmart Super Center, or order it on line. It was reasonably priced and worked well TERRO® Ant Killer & DIY Home Pest Control | Kill Bugs ...

What I used to do was put a light dusting of powdered Sevin around the outside and on the windowsills and vent openings. That used to do the trick as long as we didn't get a rain right away to wash it off. Baits are also effective but have to be placed in the "trail" so that the foraging ants will find it right away and take it back to their buddies. DO NOT use any sprays and baits together as that will defeat the working of the baits. Don't be hesitant to use a couple of different kinds of baits in different areas of the house. The baits are usually directed to one kind of feeding so what works on sugar ants might not work on pharoahs and so forth. Ants don't carry disease so their problem is that they are annoying while their chowing down on you honey buns!
They're buggers to get rid of!! Good luck.
