wow i really didn’t think anyone would read that...It’s my opinion that’s all. the reason i think the z lens superior technologically is that it always has the potential to gather more light as it’s a larger diameter mount. I’m not a young i’m 48 and i’ve shot with a few d750s since 2015 so i am not an early adopter. it comes down to this for me , the sensor and lens reproduce what i’m trying to capture every time and in a way that no other camera system has previously. Might not be for some. Others will love it.

Very shortly now, we'll have trouble remembering cameras ever were burdened by mirrors.

A few data points:

The Z-mount lenses are superior.

How/why are Z- mount lenses superior? Better glass? Better manufacturing? ??????
Some might be better than some F-mount lenses but then again some F-mount lenses might be better than all Z-mount lenses. I doubt that all Z-mount lenses are better than all F-mount lenses which your statement implies.

The Z mount itself with the larger throat and shorter flange distance allows designs that weren’t possible with the F mount and DSLR lenses in general.

Mirrorless cameras are a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. Images captured from behind a mirror are cold, heartless and uncaring.

How does the Z50 not match up to the D500?

Seems to have superior features such as focus peaking.

I was shooting with the Z50 today. The results were fine, but as I walked along, spotted a subject (pony) and had to wait for the camera to wake up it was very annoying. One other thing that bothers me with the Z is how (at least with some lenses) it keeps VR running even while the camera 'sleeps'. Nikon claims it is to avoid further delay when the camera wakes. I noticed it with my two big lenses and originally thought something was wrong. First was with an 800mm and again with a 400mm on a Z6.

I limit the use of my Z cameras to the Z lenses I have, 2 FF and 2 DX.

I don’t think the f mount will go away since there are so many users. May not see a whole lot of new lens development since R&D will lean to mirrorless but there are hundreds of great used lenses to pick from both Nikkor and third party. Personally I already have a dozen, more than I need and another reason not to switch to the z mount. Having a hard time using all of the ones I have especially with the social distancing.

Nostalgia I guess. Maybe it’s a reminder that I too am becoming more a part of the past than the future.

My kids say that I have always been part of the past. Guess that’s OK.

Something about reflexion is just so wonderful and warm, a mirror is love.
Deep beyond the reflective surface, a mirror is a view to the soul.
A mirror is a beautiful thing.
An image taken without a mirror is cold, soulless.

Just remind them that some day they will be part of the past. It's inevitable.

For youth it’s a matter of perspective. When I was 21 I had a girlfriend whose father was 42, twice as old as I was. I thought that was ancient.

That's the key point about mirrorless: you maximize the difference by using the newest and the sharpest ever mirrorless-specific lenses. Mindless GAS to buy yet another new camera body is not what mirrorless is about. Mirrorless is a way of life, seeing the world through new lenses and knowing that light reaches a sensor having never been reflected. If we gave two people each a digital camera and a lens, and after a week we learned one was given a mirrorless camera, who do you think will be better?

WOW!!!!

How dare you attack Mindless GAS!

It is the best king of GAS!!!

These people who "think through" a purchase are just wasting valuable time!

As they say in the Stock Market:

Buy! Buy! BUY!

In the stock market the chances that you can sell for more than you bought is better than 50%. For camera gear? It's like 0%.
