Yes beginning of end for new DSLRs. Doesn't mean all, and DSLRs wont just disappear, but the new sales are mostly in mirrorless, just a fact that the makers realize .
There was a follow-up where Nikon said there was an error, the lens was NOT discontinued. Canon had not yet responded.
When people look at an image from a mirrorless camera, they feel the difference not just in their eyes, but in the depth of their heart.

Yes. Viewing SLR images is no cost, but viewing LV images gets more expensive all the time ... clearly a scam :-(

Hold your watches up people. It's getting deep in here.

The Canon mirrorless cameras are very nice. but when people say that the DSLR is done then Canon should be prepared for a huge drop in sales. The price difference is huge. who can afford those damn things??? Perhaps it may help cell phone camera sales and eventually put them out of business???
Canon is going to own / maintain the high-end professional market. Whether an entry-level market even exists is an open question as the entire camera market has contracted by 84% in the last 10-years. Dedicated cameras with interchangeable lenses are a luxury good, limited to those who can afford one that now can cost less than a high-end phone. We'll have to see what Canon does to match the Z50 for a cropped mirrorless body, whether they keep the cropped sensor but separate EF-M mount, or instead, retire the EF-M and maintain a flavor of EF-S as mirrorless.
