Yes I agree the owner of the village has banned all cars. The occupants have to leave their cars in a car park at the top of the hill .

Perhaps I should explain the photos in more detail. The first photo is of a village called Clovelly which is in Devon(not Cornwall) which does not allow vehicles nb. There is a public house to the right of the village by the harbour which was hosting a wedding reception when I visited and for special occasions there is a road for vehicles which can be used once permission is given.
The second photo is of the cove near the village, the third photo is of a Cornwall village called Port Issac which was the scene for a popular British comedy/Drama series called Doc Martin and as you quite rightly point out does allow vehicles.
Apologies for the vague initial discriptions and thanks for bringing the points out.

Regards

I've been to those places several times - very delightful. Have to watch the tide in Port Isaac when you go to the pub though as numerous cars have been claimed by the sea!

Loved that Doc Martin show. Used to catch it late at night here in the states but its not on any more.

Hal,
Not so! Doc Martin is being shown on a number of PBS stations on cable networks. You can also buy DVDs of the various series through BBC America, Acorn and other outlets on the Internet. Hope this helps stave off the awful loss you must be feeling by not watching the program recently :-)
