I "upgraded" and installed Luminar AI 1.2.0 this morning, with less than acceptable results. The Skylum Community support board is full of horror stories of crashes and meltdowns.
In my case, opening as a plug-in from Lightroom or Photoshop results in the following the image I wanted to edit without any of the menus, templates, actions, etc.
It will run as a standalone, but for me, the true utility was as a LR/PS plugin.
That stinks! It’s hard to believe their testing didn’t reveal those problems before release. I hope you were able to get your system working again.
Please, if the phrase AI or to some Ai is attached to a program we must not be irreverent and criticize. These programs can do no wrong and the problem is with us and our computers, not the program.
The AI programs are the Robots of the future without the ridiculously designed bodies to look human. Dogs are now AI, "SpaceX Boston Dynamics robot dog named “Zeus" is by far more intelligent than your "Fido" that slobbers and farts. Time for us to get modern.
I have Luminar AI 1.2.0 and have no problems... I don't use it... I have an excuse, I am old! I like to do my own editing and not leave it to an AI consensus. My older Topaz plugins do quite well, thank you! And who needs a doctor when we have AI? "AI in Healthcare: The Hope, The Hype, The Promise, The Peril."
https://news.vumc.org/2019/12/18/ai-future-potential-hinges-on-consensus-nam-report/PS: the AI that I do love and respect is Google Deep Dreams which reveals the AI brain gone insane in a nightmare.
https://deepdreamgenerator.com/best/weekPSS: Yes, I feel a bit cheated, I first bought Luminar 4, not realizing it was not the new Luminar AI. Luminar AI is not the great editing machine I had expected. The marketing was great tho. Perhaps with time and modifications, it will be more what I expected? Then again, what did I expect, or did I just want to go with modern? Yes, fell into the trap, just like the people with lens acquisition syndrome... It is new, I gotta have it.

I suppose you tried uninstalling/reinstalling?
I purchased AI on the prerelease sale
Trying to run it find out 5 computers and non have a graphics card to handle it.
That's my only nightmare.
This seems to be a pattern with Topaz. I started with Luminar for the PC - a total nightmare. Then updated no next iteration - not much better. Stupidly I purchased Aurora 2018. Updates worked, then crashed. So, back to 2018.

Luminar is not part of Topaz Labs. It is put out by Skylum.

I bought from Skylum 3 years ago and couldn’t return the software fast enough for a full refund. The user should not be expected to be a beta tester.
I did the upgrade to Luminar AI 1.2.0 and installed it as a plugin. My first two attempts to use it were failures. I used the Luminar filter and was able to edit the images. When the image returned to PS my computer locked up both times. I took a different approach. I removed PS, rebooted my computer and reinstalled it and every thing is now fine.
I haven't had any problems with this program yet but I haven't gotten deeply into it so time will tell.

I am running it as a Photoshop plug-in on an iMac 27" 5k without a problem.

Try uninstalling the plugins and then reinstalling them.
Skylum suggests using an app cleaner( it’s on their support forum) to remove old AI and then install 1.2. It worked well when I removed the program with the cleaner. Didn’t lose any photos though from catalog.
What a long strange trip it's been. I was premature in blaming Luminar's display problems on a bad installation or buggy code. The real issue was somewhere deep in my Windows 10 OS, which necessitated scrubbing the disk to bare metal and reinstalling everything.
Oh, since then, Luminar AI works fine and is incredible.
