Other than the ones already mentioned New York Camera and Video is also reputable.

If you check their website you'll see that they are in Pa. A missleading name Why?

Since I refuse to buy from companies who participate in price fixing, I often buy on eBay from authorized dealers in Asia. Have saved big bucks and never had a warranty claim.

Also have purchased from dealers in Canada when the Canadian dollar was weak against the US dollar (but I'm close by if I ever should need to send something for warranty work).

ROBERTS in Indianapolis is great---but difficult to find; used to be in downtown Indy; now it is on northside of Indy. I don't have a phone
book. Maybe---just put Roberts Camera on the outside.

I have bought lenses from Greentoe... I saved a lot. The found best price I could find on a lens . I got it for about $200. less.
find the best price you can find , then go to greentoe.com tell them you want to pay $200 less or what ever you want.
Dealers look at you price, if they want to sell it to you for that price , they will contact you.
IN my case I was contacted by ( adorama if I remember right Ive forgotten now) and got the lens.
They also do cameras. and other stuff.

Hunt's here in NE is also very good.

I second Hunt's in NH. Also, check Greentoe for good prices.

I during the Christmas season purchased a Canon R5, all the big regular names that will pop up here had them on back order and I found Pictureline out of Utah. Their order processing and shipping was surprisingly fast and their customer service was excellent. To my surprise they did not charge sales tax on the transaction which saved me an additional 7% which as substantial.

I had posted a comment about how pleased I was with the overall transaction and other members here who live in Utah and know the store said that they are an excellent company to do business with.

B&H. Just can't go wrong with them. Adorama... they're okay but I have had issues with them selling items only to find out when it was in the cart that it was actually on backorder. And the last time I ordered from them, I am surprised the product arrived in one piece because of the absolutely terrible job they did packing it.

The advice you are getting is good advice, ie. B&H, Adorama, in Seattle there is Glazer's Camera. I just bought a Sony lens from them. They are an authorized dealer. They did not charge me sales tax, much to my surprise. I just used Samy's in LA.

The prices will probably be the same but places like B&H and Adorama often throw in extras, like an extra battery, SD card, camera bag, etc. as a sweetener. They are not allowed to discount the price but they can sweeten the deal by adding value. Sometimes you may have to look for the extras, or just call and ask.

Crutchfield is an authorized Nikon dealer. I've been impressed with them. I've purchased two Nikon cameras and two speedlights from them. I like that they package the products for shipping better than other companies. They put packing peanuts in the shipping box. I've been disappointed how B & H Photo ships lately. They might put one piece of bubble wrap on one side of the product in the shipping box - not adequate.

I agree about Crutchfield. They are not your typical “camera” store, but I have purchased several Nikon items from them, plus they give you a few % credit for future purchases.

On the other hand, I have a bad taste in my mouth from Adorama, not from any purchase experience, but from their overly aggressive marketing. If you even look at something on their site, you will get emails telling you that you need to buy now because that item is selling out. I also get constant ads for random products selected “just for you.” Give me a break.

Avoid any place advertising low prices.

I kinda agree. How is it legal to set a fixed price everyone must sell at. That used to be a crime called "Price Fixing"

I have purchased from Beach Camera in the past. They are located in New Jersey. I am located in Western New York. Then, I received brand new Canon equipment with US warranty. There was no tax charged.

Once, I needed to return a lens for I realized it wasn't for me after all. No issues at all. It was a few years ago. It's worth checking out as they have a 45-day return policy too.
