Congratulations Paul and good luck sir.

My four by five view camera does not have a mirror. Nor did any of the cameras used in my large format classes of a decade ago, including up to an 11" by 14" beauty one of the students took to 'Machu Pichu' about fifteen years ago. The detail from those portraits were phenomenal! No mirrors in any of the cameras, but it was a good reflection (pun intended) on the artistry and creativity of the students. There were students with 5" by 7" KB Canhams, an 8" X 10" Deardorff and Wisner field cameras; a 7" X 17" panaromic beauty, I forget the manufacturer, and of course a few 'Calumet', 'Cambo', 'Linhof Technica', 'Horseman' 'Tachihara', 'Toyo', 'Wista' and 'Zone VI' styles. What a collection of talented people and their respective cameras!!! The courses were taught at 'Scottsdale Community College' by Rod Klukas, M.F.A. Those were educational memories I shall cherish.
What is that adage? What is old is new again? (Or something like that.) What do you know, cameras without mirrors are making a comeback!
Do I sense a renaissance in art, or is it nostalgia? Vinyl record sales surpassed sales of CDs last year for about the first time ever. Will film have a resurgence too? Time will tell. As for me, I work on a computer much of the day, and I really don't like spending time on the computer for my hobby as well. My hobby is supposed to be some sort of relief from work (and therefore the computer). My hobby is not supposed to keep me at the computer screen and keyboard. I want to get away from these high tech necessities, at least so I can enjoy myself away from them for at least a short period of time.
Sorry for the tangential rant.

What do you refer to? If you asked why film photography? Then why not? I am not one that says film is better but it's a way to do photography so why not?

You can use the <watch> button too for that purpose.
Thanks Paul for setting this up and getting it running. I'm looking forward to your critiques, your views are very important to all of us.
Now if I only knew what I am supposed to do once the film is loaded, properly of course!
The F4 is intimidating with all the knobs and . . .

As a dedicated film shooter, and opposed to imitation imaging, I find it ironic that a member most noted for inane mirrorless fanboy and anti-film comments would pretend to be qualified to moderate a film section. I shall withhold judgement until I see proof that the leopard has actually changed its spots. Hope springs eternal!

Paul is very accomplished with film and digital devices, and is quite capable of writing about and using either. He has over 22,500 posts on UHH. Many of them seem to be humorous tongue-in-cheek quips, but many contain valuable insights or great images.
A communications medium is not more important than the message it carries, so long as the message reaches its destination in an understandable form.
I used film capture from 1965 to 2005, and have used digital capture ever since. I have no preference for the look of either. In both cases, I know what to do to get the look I want. I DO prefer the digital *process*.

Not all of them.
Is there an auto focus Canon 35mm film camera without a mirror?

Alas no, but I did learn today that all (count them: ALL) EOS bodies work with all EF lenses with IS (Image Stabilization) unlike a widely advertised competitor that doesn't support all (count them: ALL) their VR-enabled AF capable lenses.

I am painfully aware that it’s generally accepted here that posting pretty pictures somehow magically validates idiotic comments. Personally, I do not believe in voodoo.

Have you actually looked at any of Paul’s series posted on UHH shot on film? BTW, at the risking of speaking for Paul, do you realize that most of Paul’s posted series were shot on either a Canon EOS-1v (film) or a 5D3 (DSLR)? You, like another poster, are missing the fact that the posts you are referring to are meant in jest. And they are not just “pretty pictures”, they are excellent images taken by an accomplished photographer. Waiting for you to post some of your images...
At last. Thank you. The analog sites are quite lame. I expect much more from this one. By the way, I recently decided I didn’t want to try to do it all, so, it’s my Maxxum 9 and b&w film only.
