Jerry, this is just you, being cheap! :)
That’s what he’s aiming for, once he have them out of the way expect drastically price increase.
Don’t buy Amazon, buy in your zone where the money stays
I do most of my reading now on my e-reader, downloading titles via link to my local library. But who does the actual download? You guessed it: Amazon.
Mark
I do the same via apple IBook
I would guess that if Amazon sold a book to a library for $3.00 or so, they could forget sales to all the people that lived in that area and they would make more money if they made everyone purchase individually. I would guess they care more about their bottom line that the library having an expanded selection.

Of course. It's unlikely that someone would read an eBook from the library and then buy it, but the same applies to print books. After Adobe started "renting" it's software, many other companies jumped on the bandwagon. Imagine if publishers follow Amazon's lead and refuse to sell to libraries.
I love E Books. The ability to search a subject/word definition plus cut and paste on a subject is a big reason.
I use Amazon as a provider. Are you aware that Amazon will refund your purchase price if you
are disappointed with an E book purchase?
The USPS will not establish home mail boxes at my location. Amazon, FedEx, & UPS deliveries are evident
at my location.
Take a look and see if Amazon donates to charity.
I think it stinks, too. America was the first country to extensively establish free, public libraries so anyone would have access to printed information and books. Libraries were referred to as a "poor man's college" for good reason. Guess who loses, if libraries can't obtain their materials.
I love Amazon's marketing director who states, “It’s not clear to us that current digital library lending models fairly balance the interests of authors and library patrons.” Translation: "We don't want to lose a dime's worth of profit to libraries so screw those who can't afford our prices."

You can't possibly even believe what you said!
I get my ebooks from my local library. Many come through Amazon, but many come from through the publisher
Simon Shuster etc. in the last 12 months I have checked out just over 100 ebooks and purchased only three. One of those was a special Bible that my library did not have and another was very new new and not available
yet and the other I purchased before I learned how the library system worked. Oh and I also bought 10 hardcover books as presents for my 10 great grand children. I'm not sure how Amazon got to be the enemy here.

I would worry more about people not writing book's; I personally don't think most people write books for the fun. Would you write a book try to get it published for no revenue? Getting income from writing is their profession and livelihood, did you get paid for you work? I am not a writer or a publisher just a reader with the thoughts of someone who knows there are no free lunches, everything cost someone something nothing is free except what God gives us.

Having books in libraries isn't some radical new idea. It's a basic community service. Libraries spend thousands of dollars for new books every year. I've borrowed hundreds of books from libraries. I certainly wouldn't have bought all of them. This is simply greed, pure and simple.
