No idea as to what it IS. For sure it is NOT any species of Sandpiper, though.

Nice bird but disturbing background.
It needs either a longer focal length or to open the aperture more.

The color is right for a Brown Thrasher but the beak is a bit too long. I think Jeff Davidson nailed it.

Pulled out my Readers Digest book of North American Birds. Certainly looks like the Brown Thrasher but the area location doesn't match. First print 2005. It very well could of moved it's area of habitants in 15 years.
