Any suggestions for using a camera for copying slides?
If you have a Nikon and a Macro lens, ES-1 or ES-2. Pretty quick and effective.

Yes...Attach the camera to a Bowens Ilumitran, use a good quality enlarger lens, and fire away. Been doing it for years.
I have the Nikon D850 and it copies slides as well as converts color and B&W negative to fine JPEGs using the Es-2 attachment with my 60mm Nikon macro lens. Works well. It may be the only Nikon to do the negative conversion.

My D800e will also do the job.
The Nikon ES-1 and ES-2 both have 52mm threads so they can be used on any lens made by any company. All you might need are extension tubes to add extension to get to 1:1 and step down rings to attach the ES-1 or ES-2 to the front of the lens.
The ES-2 comes with two holders. The film strip holder is for color or black and white negatives that can be converted to JPEGS on a Nikon D850. The other holder is for 35mm slides in cardboard or thin mounts. It holds two slides. It also comes with two adapters to fit two different Nikon 60 mm macro lenses that have 62mm threads on the front of the lens.
I am using my ES-2 right now with my Nikon 55mm f2.8 manual focus macro lens and two extension tubes that total about 42mm of extension. The ES-2 is mounted to the front of the 55mm lens as it has 52mm threads on its front.

Yes... You need:

https://clifforth.co.uk/> a suitable slide or transparency holder such as is available with the device I just linked above

Actually, I just bought an ES-1 for the same reason, BUT, - It's for my Canon 80D after purchasing a properly sized adapter for it. - This should work on most cameras with an adaptor, - Best of Luck!
I have attached a picture of my ES-2 with a 35mm slide holder attached. Light source is a old color corrected light box. Camera is a Nikon D800E. ISO set to 200. Aperture priority. F stop set to f8 manually as the 55mm f2.8 has an aperture ring. Camera is turned over in one image so you can see the two extension tubes used
Thank you, - ("A picture is worth a thousand words"!)
Looks like the ES-2 has a better feature for inserting/removing the Slides, my ES-1 is a bit of a pain that respect!
There is a whole section about copying slides in the digest. I myself have a setup for copying slides. It is posted in the section for copying slides. There are photos of my setup. I use my Iphone for illumination and a Digital camera to copy it. You can see it in that section. It is under the section copying slides. My name is Johnnyt. I also have a setup for copying b&w negatives. All the information is in the post. It is easy to do!
Have fun!
You Tube has some excellent DIY vids on that subject.
If you have a scanner search SILVERFAST as well.

Yeah, - I searched 'Silverfast', and it has a great video ad, showing lots of its features,
PLUS, a very hefty PRICETAG!! - Looks good in the ad, but I can't justify the price for a handful of 70's Slides.

The Mac version of SilverFast SE is a free download for Epson V-Series scanners that came with Digital ICE. Download it from the Epson support page for your scanner.
