Tuscon landscape suggestions
I’m here for a while, west side
Been in the np, and Tuscon mountain west, will do Mt Lemmon, madero canyon, pategonia, Catalina area
Desert is really dry, no flowers/color yet,
Any suggestions appreciated
Sunrise and sunset have been cloudless, blue nondescript
Hiking is not a problem, prefer under 5 miles round trip, but more for special
Thanks

Sabino Canyon?
My favorite.
You're probably looking for locations, which I can't help with. However, in Utah (also desert), I find that when landscapes are unprepossessing, I can usually find interesting desert plants to photograph. Thistles, nettles, saltlover (which is not native, but still pretty), and a bunch of plants that I don't even know the names of, like the one below.
The desolation of the landscape can be a source of interest, too. Outside the city the horizon stretches forever.
Good idea, done a little and I have a 105 micro lens
Add NP East, Sabino Canyon, the White Dove. I don’t know how long you will be there, but in a month or so the desert will bloom and you will have endless opportunities.

Just a little to the north of Tucson is the Desert Photo Retreat.
Ron and Janine have a wonderful piece of property that is set up for photography.

Picacho Peak, Mt Graham, San Carlos Lake should be showing wildflowers soon if not now, Superstition Mountains and Salt River are beautiful areas outside Metro Phoenix and lots of lakes too. If you plan to be here in Monsoon season the desert changes dramatically. This week is forcasted for clouds and rain so maybe there will be dramatic sunrises and sunsets. Marana has the burrowing owls which are active right now.
Tohono Chul on Ina just west of Oracle. Take 19 south to Tubac and visit the art galleries. The mountains down there are beautiful. Take the Amado exit west and drive to Ruby - a ghost mining town. Permit is required. Don't forget the Presidio district downtown. If you're up for a longer drive, the Organ Pipe Monument is a cactus paradise.

Drive west through Gates Pass (stop at the overlook) and visit the Desert Museum. Also, the Old Tucson movie set in that general area. Then, south along I19 to San Xavier del Bac and try for a view that isn’t a typical postcard shot. For something different, search out Aqua Caliente park east of town (off Rogers).
Lots of great landscape suggestions here. For something completely different, the Pima Air & Space Museum is south of the city, at the southeast end of the Davis-Monthan AFB runway. And, immediately east of the base is the aircraft "boneyard," where old military aircraft are stored and, in some cases (nuclear bombers) are disassembled and scrapped. I'm not sure if they give tours regularly (they did 50 years ago, when I was stationed there), but you could probably ask at the museum. Nice time to be in the desert. Enjoy.
Gates Pass is great at golden hour If shot from the lower road. The Desert Museum and the Cactus Museum are also on that road and worth your time.Great shots of giant cactus ara everywhere.
Wow, a lot of help, thanks to all. I guess i'll have to extend our time.
Some others we have done, are Maderia canyon, Patagonia and of course a lot of hikes and Sweetwater, plus Catalina and Mt Lemmon.
Appreciate the assistance.
I do plan to return in May to catch the various blooms, and hopefully, we will get some rain soon to encourage early flowers.
