Not too sure what a 'heli coil' is but the attached shows the tripod mount on an A6000.

Thanks. A Heli Coil is a replaceable thread insert.
Now that was interesting 🤨 Thanks
What you are calling a Heli Coil is used on some cameras to reduce a 3/8" x 16 thread down to a 1/4" x 20. The adapters are common as motion picture and large camcorders use the larger thread for tripod mounting. Some tripods also use the larger thread to attach the head to the legs. 35mm film cameras, DSLR's and mirrorless cameras tend to use the 1/4" size only.
A heli-coil is used to repair stripped threads where there is enough material to allow for the oversize tap. They're also used in mil-sped electronic gear to provide threads in aluminum components. There are both locking and clear running versions depending on the application. My Sony has a metal part which looks to be molded into the plastic.
Yours have stripped out threads? Looking to go from 1/4"-20 to 3/8"-16? Definitely not a heli coil.
