Actually I'm considering a number of things.

I want to replace my pickup. It leaks oil onto the exhaust and really smokes bad. I can't stop the leak.

I looked at one yesterday I'm interested in, but I would need my credit union to finance it, if they will.

It's a 1994 Chevrolet S10. The old one is a 1976 S10.

First view of the 94 S10 I'm interested in.

The back of my 76 S10. It collects garbage and waits for my son to transfer it to his truck for the dump run. 🙄 The mobile home park has problems with that.

Well, going from a 45 year old S10 to a 27 year old S10 is certainly a step in the right direction...

The 94 looks nice. How is the interior? I have a 90 Chev Silverado that I bought new.

Outside it does look nice. The drivers seat is torn up some.

I doubt that any financial institution is going to finance a vehicle that old, but good luck to you.

Are you sure the transmission vacuum modulator isn't leaking? It can suck transmission fluid into the engine intake. That'll make a car smoke also (after it ruins the catalytic converter).

Well a 27 year old truck isn't going to be perfect. In DDL you can see possible body work on the doors and a little rust ahead of the rocker panel on the passenger side. Probably not concerning since it's 27 years old. I'm sure you can pick up a used front seat from a junk yard or seat covers. The important things are: How many mile are on it, How does it run, How does it drive, How is the steering system, If it's an automatic trans, how does it shift, If it's a manual how is the clutch, How are the tires and shocks and brakes? Check the body for signs rust repairs using a magnet because usually short lived unless done properly. You could check CarFax and take it to a trusted mechanic and have him put it on a hoist to check the underside and all the things above. May cost you $25-50 bucks but he'd have a good sense for any serious issues or things to plan for in the near future. Otherwise you just take a chance. Really can't tell much from the photos because they look pretty good. That would be my check list of things.

I had a friend that sold Ford's so I bought a pckup from him every other year for 10 - 12 years. Then I switched to a Bronco, now to my wife's Subaru. :-) Harry PS I sold the Bronco because the insurance was more than the car was worth. In fact, twice as much. :-( I sold it to a friend's daughter for less than it's worth and he kept bitching at me about selling it so cheap. I told him to either give me a check for a thousand bucks or to shut up. Big surprise, he chose the latter and never mentioned it again! <g> Harry PS And we're still friends! :-)

I kind of think your right, but still going to talk with them about the possibility of a car loan with payments at an affordable level for me.

Thanks for looking and for your question and comment. Yes I'm sure. I know the oil leak is at the bottom of the dip stick tube where it goes into the engine block.

Wouldn't that just make the oil drip on the ground instead of get into the engine to burn?
