Do a little reading.

I've done a lot of reading as I said I worked with structural engineers for 40+ years. I am very familiar with oriented strand board as well as many other engineered wood products such as glue laminated timbers, micro-lams and others. Micro-lams particularly are very popular these days for use as beams in wood frame construction. That being said I stand by my comments regarding plywood. I also understand that the engineered sheathing products are cheaper, just not necessarily better.

The old fashion way.

One of the endpoints of the old-fashioned way is death or severe injury.

I would require no masks working elevated for safety reasons

Wow, a particle board roof - not even plywood !

In this part of the country, at least, particle board is what one usually gets unless the owner demands otherwise. “They” say it’s just as good, but I’m not yet convinced. Builders use it because it’s cheaper than plywood.

I intended to post on the Photography Gallery but some how lost my way and got entangled on a construction site.

I shot this at an angle through a dirty closed window.

An experienced roofing team can clean the roof to the sheathing and replace it all in a day on the average house around here.

When I had the roof replaced two guys delivered the tiles, covered the shrubs, etc. about 3 in the afternoon. Three guys showed up 7:30 the next morning and were done by 4:30. Next morning they showed up at 7:30 and finished the clean up (same two guys from the first day).

Joe, I've seen roof replacements like this done in February before about 20 years ago here in Western NY. I asked someone about it and was told it's a common practice. When the warmer weather comes that things that need to seal do so nicely. But me on a roof now....Ha,Ha,Ha....

Our subdivision is 23 years old and consists of 18 homes. Our house was one of the first to be built and occupied. I watched most houses being built from ground up. The roofers were most interesting. A two man crew; one on the roof and one on the ground and ladder delivering materials...manual labor, not like this crane.

I was amazed how sure footed and strong they were.
