As a one time journalist I learnt a candid trick.Place the strap of a reflex around your neck and find a suitable spot in cafe or street or wherever.Open a newspaper and tear open a hole the size of your lens in the middle.Pretend to read the paper but scan those approaching you thro the reflex viewfinder.

Can anyone provide other wheezes?

Didn't I see that on a "Get Smart" episode?

I saw it on a 60 Minutes episode about stalkers and pedophiles. Recognizable people (except celebrities) can't be shot and the prints sold without model releases so what's the point?

Focus on object away from the subject at same distance in manual. They will ALWAYS look to see what you are shooting. When they look, quickly swing to the subject , shoot and swing back where you started. I have done this for years and it almost always works.

Come to think of it, it might have been an episode of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Back in film days, if I wanted candid shots I just turned the twin lens reflex sideways and shot. They always assumed I was shooting the way I was facing. I suppose I could use my T3i's live view at waist level and do the same thing.

Kind of like a periscope. Could shoot around a corner, too.

nice one.I have seen somewhere cranked viewers so that you get a clear view of scenes to your side

Yeah. You are right.I do it often.Nevertheless simply producing a camera makes everyone in range go all artificial.I'm looking for a technique that hides the camera yet allows me to shoot. Thanks
