When I was a kid the family was in Yellowstone and there was a bull bison way, way out in a meadow. Half way out there, there was a man throwing rocks at the bison. A Park Ranger was there with a high-powered rifle at the ready and he was trying unsuccessfully to get the man to stop and come back. The Ranger said, "Well, if that bison charges I'm gonna have to shoot one of 'em."

Hope he chose the guy throwing the rocks.

More than likely, it will be the bears that pay the price for her selfish stupidity.

You can not fix stupid.
She will be the one on TV crying because the bears broke into her house and destroyed everything looking for more food.

I read the entire article. The woman had her heart in the right spot however her brain was in her butt..! A Grizzly Bear sow with cubs may appear to be ever so darling however we must remind ourselves that they are massive killing machines and powerful scavengers. Few animals are as protective of their offspring as a bear. When the day comes that her beloved bears rip into her home in search of food it will surely be the most exciting moment of her then to be short life.

The most deadly animal in America is.....a deer. More people are killed and injured by striking a deer than are killed and injured by all other animals combined. Wildlife, and surely including bears, belong in protected areas of the wild where they can live a natural life and where we can enjoy seeing them in their natural element.

The woman later told officers she had "an aura" that both allowed her to communicate with animals and also prevented her from being hurt or attacked. But if she was attacked, she told them she was "OK" with being killed.

These are remarkably similar to Treadwells views and that ended badly. If and when they maul her, which is prophetic, the bears will suffer.

She's off. Others have to protect her from herself.

The unfortunate consequence of that would be that the bears would be put down. The loss of the idiot would be fine with me, but not so for the bears!!

If she is so protected, ask her to go hug one, you would like to get a great photo! (most likely of her head being bitten off, but don't mention that!)

I was in the Rocky Mountain Park a couple of years ago and ran into a herd of Elk. I kept a respectable distance of around 50 yards and was shooting with a telephoto lens. Some tourists were getting within 10 yards or less and turning their backs on the Elk to have their photo taken with them. I think their only salvation was that in the park the Elk are used to tourists, but yet, they are still wild animals!

Just wondering. I've noticed "women" being substituted for "woman" recently. What's up with that?

Maybe an issue with autocorrect? I've had some really wild things happening since I've had my new iPad. I'm about to ditch "autofill" and "autocorrect" - makes me nuts!

Oh crap, and I agree with kpmac. Humans and their need to interfere--this drives me nuts. Around here, many years ago, a woman found an "orphaned" black bear cub in a tree and TOOK IT DOWN. It scratched her on the way to her "ambulance"--her car--and guess what? The poor innocent thing had to be euthanized lest it had rabies. Why can't we leave nature alone?
