Anyone got a good remedy, besides cutting my big toe off?
Any prevention methods?

My doctor has an excellent diet to help control Gout. He didn't give it to me because he said I would't follow it anyway!

I do have a good diet generally, and no alcohol which seems to be a culprit?

Along with getting my uric acid under control and staying away from pork and staying on my medications, topical Diclofenic has helped a bunch for the pain put on topically am and pm.

See if you doctor will write you a script for allopurinol 300mg once a day. That's what I take, and haven't had an attack in 15+ years. I'm on no special diet.

Proper treatment includes diet + medication.
Here's a link to diet information from Mayo Clinic:

Speak to your doctor about medication(s).
Note that the medication used to treat acute attacks is different than the medication used to prevent attacks.

My BIL's Dad had gout so bad that crystals formed on his ears, finge, toes and elbows......he had never had booze in his life.
