I'll wait to upgrade until I have to. Thanks for your comments.

Aperture definitely will not work with Big Sur! Not with Catalina either I believe. It works OK in Mojave but not quite as well as with High Sierra. I don't understand why people feel they have to upgrade every time a new updated OS comes out! If you have problems the new OS will fix then fine but if it ain't broke why fix it ???????

You are quite right "if it ain't broke why fix it?" But alas in the tech world of computers...sometime you just have to bit the bullet, many times its a security issue, that is addressed with the new OS. On the flip side if the unit is never on the internet then no worries...but how many people never use their computers on the internet eh?

There was a different UHH thread recently that mentioned a "patch" that allows Aperture to run on Catalina, but no one could identify it. We agreed that Aperture is a 64 bit app, but Apple nevertheless abandoned it. Then the thread fizzled into recommendations for other apps.

I found the following:

Has anyone tried it?

Since our trip to Antarctica where we took over 10K pix, I have been using LRClassic and occasionally Photoshop. But I have about 40K old pix in Aperture that I don't want to bring into LR. So I have been running Mojave. But it would be nice to upgrade that OS finally.

Why not just import your Aperture library to Appleā€™s Photo App? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209594
