Need help w/ firing a Sony a7lll w/ a radio remote

Hi All
I just received a Vello FREEWAVE PLUS RW-S Wireless Remote for Sony to hopefully, fire, by radio, my Sony a7lll camera remotely. This device arrived w/ a coiled cord that had a 2.5mm phono plug on 1 end and a funny looking plug w/ 4 ears at the corner the other end, that doesn't fit into any of the outlets on the a7lll camera. I happen to have a USB Type C cord that I can plug into both the FREEWAVE receiver & the camera's USB Type C outlet. When I press the transmitter, the receiver blinks appropriately, but the camera doesn't fire. I have 3 possible explanations. (Of course there may be more)
1.The cord & adapters have a bad connection.
2.The camera has a setting(s) that I'm unaware of that doesn't allow it to be fired by a remote device plugged into it's USB type C plug.
3. I need to buy a cord w/ a Micro-USB plug that would allow me to use the Micro-USB outlet on the camera & 2.5mm phono plug on the other end.
Does anyone have experience w/ the a7lll using a remote device that plugs into the camera. I could really use some help w/ this.
Thank you, Jay Drew

I have a Sony remote RMT-VP1. Works great with my RX10 IV. Have you checked the battery?

I have the Sony A7iii that I recently bought a Flashpoint wireless remote for that works great. But while ordering it I noticed that I had to be very careful to get the right cord, there was a huge selection. If the cord you got didn't fit and you used a different cord, I suspect it is the cord that is giving you trouble. Call the vendor you got the remote from, they should be able to tell you if that is the trouble.

I just ordered a micro USB / Phono cord. I hope it works. It should arrive on this Sunday. Thanks, Jay

I'll check w/ Vello. I was hoping someone here on UHH had experience w/ this. In the past I've had difficulty communicating w/ Asian manufacturers.
