I'm getting a new pup, Cairn Terrier, and visited the litter at three weeks and then again a few days ago at six weeks. They grow so fast! Tried my hand at getting puppy shots, it was a challenge but the breeder was the "puppy wrangler," a necessity to keep the pups safe, and it worked out pretty well. Bringing props along and staying down at their level helps to get a good shot, too. I looked up how to photograph dogs to get some tips, like using a longer lens so they don't automatically come to you. These were shot outside, except for the first one that was shot as they lay in their box at three weeks, and I set the drape up on a step so I could go down the steps to take the shots and this way I'd be at their level. Borders are from a program called Photo Scape X (free program for Mac and PC). Hope you enjoy the "puppy love."

They're really awesome shots and beautiful doggies But be careful I've heard that some people who get those puppy shots start having uncontrollable urges to bite on rolled up socks... ( )

Thanks, everyone. I was tempted to take two but have resisted that so far. I'm hoping to get the little brownish color guy, a boy, but not absolutely sure yet that I will. It all depends on if the breeder says yes to that but in any case I'll get the brown guy or the little blacker guy with the yellow ribbon. I'll love either one. These were very difficult puppies to find, not a lot of litters and a long wait list for some of the breeders. I was just lucky to find a breeder that chose to sell me a pup. Then I had to wait until the female whelped and now until they are weaned and ready to go. I am excited to bring one home after losing my boston/schnauzer mix about 1 1/2 years ago to cancer, it broke my heart to lose her at only 12. It was fun to get to photograph them and a learning experience.
