The branching doesn't look oak. It looks more dogwood. Would like to see picture of tree. As has been mentioned, scale is needed. Oak leaves are big.

Like the others state it looks like an oak except it what we can see of the branch it doesn't look like an oak branch. I don't think dogwood nor chestnut oak. A little more of the limb would prove or disprove dogwood as the leaves are paired in that tree. No mater what I do like the picture.

Doc, what would you say about a Willow Oak? I got this from leaf-ID.com and it looks real close.

I agree. Here's a dogwood leaf to compare. They tend to turn darker as they age on the tree.
