I had the pleasure of going to Whitewater Draw, a game refuge in S.E. Arizona Tuesday morning. This is one of the winter homes for these beautiful birds. An estimated 27,000 Sandhill Cranes are spending the winter here before leaving in the Spring. There are also numerous Snow Geese, Wigeons, Northern Pintails, Green-wing Ducks and other ducks here.
I had a fabulous time, and want to go back again soon before they leave.
At first I saw only the Snow Geese , some ducks and a few cranes. Slowly the Sky darkened with flocks of Cranes descending on the ponds. This went on for some time. I was amazed at seeing how gracefully they descend and land amongst the crowds.
I am new at in-flight photos, and the P950 is probably not as well suited as your DSLRs or Mirrorless cameras.
But I kept trying different settings to try to capture the beauty of them in flight and landings.
I took almost 2000 photos , so It's taking me some time to process and pare them down.
I hope you enjoy these
