I am in the process of d/l pictures for a full page ad in a local paper. The publisher requested pdf files to fit 3"x 3" and 5" wide x 3" high.
Capture 1 does not offer saving in pdf format. Do you have recommendations for achieving the best results for this? I do have current subscription to Adobe Pro. Files are currently .nef and can be saved in most other formats.
Thanks.

This is what I've done & it works for me. Download & install any of the various PDF creator programs that are available. It will install as a printer on your PC & will be available to any of your programs that have a PRINT function. Open your file, tell the program to PRINT it & choose the PDF creator program in the print dialog box. You'll be prompted to give the file a file name. I'll suggest using something distinctive. There ya go - easy-peasy.

Change original to another format first, such as a tiff, jpg, or any other format that will allow you to then go to pdf!

If you are using Windows, there should be an option to print to pdf when you print. It's that simple.

They blow it up.
The number of ink dots per inch (and size) for newspaper printing and photo printing are totally different.

1. You should have Microsoft print to PDF that is part of windows.
2. Having a copy of Adobe Acrobat will allow access Acrobat distiller that will allow for quality adjustments to the PDF file. Input file is tiff or jpeg.
3. Affinity Photo allows export to PDF. PhotoShop may allow this too.

Yes. I was hoping to minimize their adjusting and give them a finished product to use.
I've sized accordingly at 300 dpi and exported as .jpg. Then opened up in OSX previews and exported as PDF.
I'm sending over shortly and will see their proofs when ready.

Thanks...to all.

Being in Advertising for many years I learned you do not send files that have to be blown up as final size art! Art should be prepared and saved in original size, then it should be stuffed and saved as a pdf file. When opened at printers it will open at full size. Most printed images, with photos will reproduce at a120 dpi, only magazines or high quality print ads will it be necessary to supply 300 dpi, check with publication for print reproduction final sizes!

In newspaper size depends on format. Tab size or full size. Ask the format and column width.
3 columns are not 3 inches wide... 3 inches high are inches
