The quickest way to find honey is to follow bees.

Denver Botanic Gardens by Paul Sager, on Flickr

Honeybees pollinate 80 percent of the United States’ insect crops -- over $20 billion worth of crops each year.

Images in this post all were captured in RAW using an EOS 5DIII. The files were processed in Adobe Lightroom 6 with additional noise processing in Topaz DeNoise 6. Except for the first image from the Denver Botanic Gardens, all images feature the EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM. Use the URL links that are the titles of each image for access to the EXIF details.

Honey will not rot or ferment when stored under normal conditions, but it will crystallize over time. Although crystallized honey is acceptable for human use, bees can only use liquid honey and will remove and discard any crystallized honey from the hive.

Honey is a biological mixture of inverted sugars, primarily glucose and fructose. It has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Nice set - vivid colors of the flowers and details captured by that 180mm macro on the bees with the pollen on them. Thanks

Thank you tcthome, Vaun, Gary, Charles, venkatesh_eng! It took me a few years to warm to the 180L. I found a bunch of bee images that had even been posted to Flickr. Glad you enjoyed.

Thank you Ourspolair, Jan, Ken! This past year of no travel had me looking at regular subjects and finding images in the archives that weren't even processed. Glad you enjoyed.
