Frist of all this IS Not about gun rights vs. gun control. All it is a about a talk I had with a friend. I was telling my friend about a rifle that someone else I known who has put it up for sale at a local gun store. The person I was talk to on the phone, he get in to this big thing about goverment coming to take our guns. I could tell by his voice he was in real fear of that happening. I was taking back by the fear in his voice. As I was listing to my friend I was think what the hell is going on. I own a firearm I don't known what the goverment is going to do or not to do, I have more important thing to deal with. To me this a another case of fear running thing in this country.

Seems like most of this sort of thing is started by unfounded rumors.

I am a gun owner, a concealed carry permit holder and I do carry almost all the time. What I am seeing right now is that you can purchase a firearm with no problem but you can't get ammo, nor can you purchase powder or primers to reload yourself....that's scary!

I am not in fear of the government coming to my house and trying to take my guns, just don't think that will ever happen. To me, the government has no common sense when it comes to guns. An honest person will follow all the rules and regs the government puts in place BUT the criminals will not and never have. If a criminal wants a gun...they will get it one way or another and damn to rules and regulations.....that's just the way it is and your not going to change that.

I just can't understand how someone can think that more regulations are going to stop gun violence.

Don’t bet on it my friend. If it can happen in places like Australia it can happen here. If the government comes to my door to take my guns they can have them one bullet at a time.

I think a little accurate information is in order here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_of_Australia

“Gun laws in Australia are predominantly within the jurisdiction of Australian states and territories, with the importation of guns regulated by the federal government. In the last two decades of the 20th century, following several high-profile killing sprees, the federal government coordinated more restrictive firearms legislation with all state governments. Gun laws were largely aligned in 1996 by the National Firearms Agreement. In two federally funded gun buybacks and voluntary surrenders and State Governments' gun amnesties before and after the Port Arthur Massacre were collected and destroyed, more than a million firearms, possibly 1/3 of the national stock.[1]

A person must have a firearm licence to possess or use a firearm. Licence holders must demonstrate a "genuine reason" (which does not include self-defence) for holding a firearm licence[2] and must not be a "prohibited person". All firearms must be registered by serial number to the owner, who must also hold a firearms license.
The states issue firearms licences for a legal reason, such as hunting, sport shooting, pest control, collecting and for farmers and farm workers. Licences must be renewed every 3 or 5 years (or 10 years in the Northern Territory and South Australia). Full licence-holders must be 18 years of age.

Junior licences in Victoria are available from 12 years of age, this allows the use of firearms for the purpose of receiving instruction in the use of the firearm or engaging in sport or target shooting competitions.[24]
Licenses are prohibited for convicted offenders and those with a history of mental illness.”

Note that Australia had 3 million guns (2 million now) for a population of 25 million. The US has an estimated 270 million guns for a population of 330 million, so the chances of all the guns (or even a sizable percentage) being confiscated are pretty damn close to zero - not doable even if The Constitution was amended to eliminate the second amendment. Lots of other very real issues for your friend (and everyone else)to worry about...

You can call me crazy but after watching the s**t that’s gone down over the past year that I never thought would happen, I know now that ANYTHING can happen. Blow away any bureaucrat or law enforcement that comes to your door to force you to do ANYTHING that is unconstitutional. PERIOD. We have to fight like hell or we’re not going to have a country.

Some of you people want everyone to stay calm and go along with laws that are unconstitutional and downplay the danger of complying with these laws until we’re living in a failed God damn socialist communist utopia. I’ll shove my gun right up your ass. One bullet at a time , baby. Come and get it.

There are a zillion bills written that never make it into law. I notice that it has been sent to committee (where it will die), that it has no co sponsors (most successful bills do) and that it very likely unconstitutional anyway. There are few extremists with no grasp of reality in Congress (of both parties) like anywhere else, who hopefully will be one term Representatives once the voters and their peers see their true colors.

Drip, drip, drip. Those are the gun laws passing one at a time over the years until you can’t defend yourself anymore. Democrats hardly ever get huge sweeping laws passed all at once. They do it gradually. They chip away at our freedoms until there’s nothing left.
But you don’t notice it happening.

Do you know that if you walk up slowly on a hummingbird you can walk right up to it without it noticing because it’s metabolism is so high. If you don’t pay attention, one day your country will be unrecognizable.

I hate Demoncrats with all my heart. I hate what is happening to my country. I just cry thinking about what country my children and Grandchildren will inherit.

People streaming across the border and being put up in hotels that you and I pay for. Then released.

7 year old children are being confused about their gender wondering whether they like girls or boys because their f’d up parents tell them there are 50 genders.

Allowing BLM and Antifa to take over whole cities and burn people’s livelihoods to the ground and the Democrats encourage it. Then they’re outraged when Trump supporters take over the Capitol building.

Allowing babies to come out of the womb and then stabbing them in the back of the neck as they’re born and calling it “women’s health”.

I can go on and on. The next democrat I meet I’m going to punch them out. I stopped speaking to my Mother because she voted for Biden.

Your mother is a very lucky woman - that part about you having stopped speaking to her, NOT the fact that she has you for a son.

If you take an honest look at what the Democratic Party has been doing to take our right to own guns since the 1960's you would realize your friend has good reason to be afraid of the government taking his firearm away. People in America have owned firearms since the founding of this great country. The 2nd Amendment was included in the Constitution and was placed up near the top of our rights because the British insisted those that lived in America turn over their firearms. Since 1789 the Constitution has said Americans have the right to, Keep and Bear Arms and that right would not be infringed. Yet since the 1960's the Democratic Party has been chipping away at our rights, a little here, a little there, nonstop.

Since the election of Joe Biden the Democrats openly tell us they are working on confiscation of assault LOOKING firearms. Anything with the term, Semi Auto, in front of it is fair game to the Left. That is, even though statistics show there is no reason for such fear from the Left. But as the Left moves more and more toward Socialism they want to follow other Socialist countries where firearms have been taken away from honest citizens. After that more rights have been taken away as well, For the GOOD of the people and more security. Did I say assault looking firearms and semi auto? Consider that scoped deer rifles are started to be looked at as SNIPER rifles now.

You don't need to believe me on this, take a look at comments by Sheila Jackson Lee, Biden, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Obama and others. If you own a firearm you should be afraid of the government coming at some time to confiscate it. These days all it would take is for you to get angry at a neighbor. That neighbor calls the police and says you got angry, they are afraid because you have a gun. In short order the police will confiscate your firearm to protect the neighbor under the new Red Flag laws. Most likely it would take months or years IF you ever get it back. That is a violation of the 4th Amendment but HEY, by the time it is all sorted out you will be gone from this earth.
