Great series! Those images are the reason we should have the camera with us at all times.

Thanks Michael.....we have had a lot of adventures here at home, but I have also spent time traveling the US but find that there is no place like home! Been to NF and it's beautiful in both summer and winter.

Glad everyone got a kick out of these, I must admit....I am having a blast and the experiences and fun just keep piling up!

To fergmark...WOW a 42 inch muskie is amazing!!! My dad got a 39 and that is the largest one I have ever seen....you should post a pic of it!

To UTMike.....I wish I could have kept him...learning how to train them and enjoy them growing up was amazing but sad when I had to let them go.

CindyHouk: I know several people who work with the big cats. All of them have told me that it’s great and rewarding. They all added - they’re powerful apex predators that can’t ever be taken for granted and complacency around them can be a fatal error.

They are right....I was no longer allowed in with them once they got to be around 8 months old and you never turn your back on them that's for sure....but so much fun and rewarding to volunteer and work with them...it was amazing!

It was so sad when Rod the owner passed away unexpectedly, his daughter didn't want to keep the business going so she found places for the critters. Not only tigers but a couple of bears, a leopard and a lion. I didn't work with any of the other animals but tigers have always been my favorite animals, was an experience of a lifetime for sure!

There is some belief in the idea that the reason the big cats aren’t more confrontational with humans is that our shape resembles that of Gorillas and prior to them some of the Australopithecina. They were smart powerful species and attempts to predate them usually resulted in a negative outcome. Over a lot of time that led to a genetic bias against attacking biped shapes. This is thought to be the basis for why the cats can be worked with at all. Interesting hypothesis - not sure how it could be proven.
