Not sure what kind the one is but he’s a good swimmer
For sure an anhinga, also known locally as snake bird. Yes they are great swimmers but if their pray swims fast they can forget it as a meal.

I wasn’t sure because I’ve only seen anhingas all black. I did an internet search and learned the one pictured is female. Thanks.
Nice work. Brown pelicans make me smile. I think they are clownish.

The pointed beak also differentiates the Anhingas from Cormorants. The first time I saw an Anhinga, I thought "what an odd-looking Cormorant". My shooting buddy straightened me out pretty quickly. Nice shot, BTW.
Great shot of a female Anhinga.
Very nice set, both are very sharp.
The Anhinga shot was well exposed! The bird, facing the camera in the shadow of backlighting was really nicely exposed w/o blowing out the background.
We had a 'local' here in Florida tell us that the Anhinga does not have oil on its wings so that it can hunt better under water. Many times you'll see them spread out their wings to 'dry them off' because, when soaked, they are too heavy to fly!
