Using the Photographer's Ephemeris I was able to locate the right position to photograph the Full "Wolf" moon coming up over the "Steel Stacks". These stacks have been turned into a local attraction and museum and are the most prominent part of what is left of Bethlehem Steel.

It has impact.

Nice photo! Visited there a very long time ago when it was in full swing - amazing!

When I just go my first car around 1962, I drove to Bethlehem Steel and was amazed to see this giant ladle, on a giant overhead crane, pour molten steel into a mold of some sort. It was hard to believe that this huge amount of steel could be heated red hot.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I love spending time in that area as there is a great deal to photograph in Bethlehem besides what is available at the old steel plant.

Well done Mike. Ok like it. I have that app, but boy is it hard to understand. You did a good job of using it. Thanks for sharing.

Back in the day, I used to go on 'slag hunts' midnights at the steel
When they would dump the slag from the Bessemer Converters over the edge
Almost like a fireworks show. But at ground level.

Unfortunately at the bottom of that edge is the Lehigh River and I have to wonder how much pollution was dumped into the river in the 100 years the "Steel" was in operation.

Good question - and unless there's been remediation, it's probably still there.
