This book was written by a cousin of mine who actually bought a bridge and moved it to a property he owned.
The author headed a volunteer group that disassembled and moved an historic wrought-iron bridge more than two hundred miles from Ionia County MI.to Alpena County MI. The volunteers reassembled and renovated the bridge and placed it over a large, deep sinkhole which has two waterfalls flowing into it for much of the year.

I just thought about this book.
This took three years to complete.

Wow , the bridges that has been posted are awesome, I have only looked thru page 5, so far I do not feel worthy to be posting my pictures in such company of Wonderful professionals, Sorry i will post anyway since I was so looking forward to this post, South Padre Causeway, First time playing with HDR to bring out the detail , be gentle? second two went with a walk with my husband and there happen to be so many bridges(walkways) that I was in luck, the last bridge looks like it ends in the Cat tails i even thought that when we came across it. But it turns to the left and goes into a big picnic area Surprise

p23 Nana Slate. Tsk Tsk - i never knew one had to be "worthy" to post - just "gutsy" enough to take a risk to put your shots out there. They are wonderful and it's always fun to see folks trying new things - like you HDR. Keep posting. Be proud of what you do. SO much of photography and the arts are subjective - if YOU like it, doesn't matter what another thinks. If it's meaningful to you, that's what matters. BUTÂ…what you post ends up encouraging others, and brings other interpretations and ideas "to the table". I'll get off my soapbox now.

thats cool so where are the MUMS
Mums are out in the regular gardens, separate from this area.
There are about 70 acres to the Gardens. Early summer they have all kinds of roses. Christmas they have Poinsettias galore
inside the main pavillion. Beautiful place!

Does this approximate your suggestion? I had not considered cropping from the right side as that was eliminating part of the bridge. I'll have to look at all of them together although this looks fine also.

You see the log and its significance. I knew what I was seeing when I chose the shot...I just wasn't seeing the same thing in the resulting image. I didn't think anyone would see it and that's part of my problem with holding onto the original or with not cropping out part or most of the foreground.

I'm glad you saw it. Dave

True, some of the bridge will be lost, however I prefer to not complicate the patterns we talked about by having the extra angle created by the upper right frame cutting the bridge across the top, and the bridge's main feature is the arches. I have rotated the picture slightly to level the water edge, (wee bit too much), and set the crop to square.

somethig like this Dave..

OK won't upload but I think you get the idea

There is a natural bridge in VA, near Lexington in the southern part of the Shenandoah Valley. It is a very high bridge and carries a highway on the top, I believe US 11. It's name is Natural Bridge.

My bridge here in Tennessee is very minor in comparison. About 10 miles away from its location, there was also a double arch bridge that was quite high and I hiked down to it but it was not possible to get a good shot of it as a whole with the equipment I had with me. I had forgotten to charge the battery and to include a spare for my a77 when I left my hotel (about a 1 1/2 Hr away) so I lost the ability to use my wide angle lens for the shoot. Had to rely on my fixed lens camera and there was no way to provide enough distance between myself and the arches to get a good overall shot...only piecemeal images. Lack of proper preparation on my part and, believe me, I was SERIOUSLY TALKING to myself that day.

A couple I took at the double arches in TN that kind of illustrate my dilemna without adequate equipment. One of the 2 arches is visible in the first shop behind the trees.
