how did you focus it?
set up shot and waited for some thing to fly thru the focus point? auto focus? manual tracking? elfin magic? took lots of shots to get one lucky one (spray and pray)?
I followed that group of birds as they circled for landing. I took about 30-40 shots as they approached and landed. There was enough distance between the birds and the background to assure that the background would be mostly out of focus. I used back-button focus on continuous high and auto iso.
