I would bet you I saw 50,000 of these guys today and when they fly and make that trill it can be damned near deafening when a thousand or so do it. I am also happy when they return. One thing I have never got was a photo of one with one of their colts. They don't breed around here. Seen pics and they are very cute. I hear Kearney, NE is the place to see them. They estimate 600,000 or more stop over there.
I have made trips for many years to the Kearney, Ne area and yes they do come in like that. It is an awesome sight to see, the sky blackened by thousands of birds, and the sound is almost deafening. Watching the dances they do is amazing.
