Watched it last night. It's a true account of the young women (girls) who worked in a radium factory (American Radium) in Orange, NJ. (about 20 miles from where I live).
Note:(The Radium Girls were female factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting watch dials with self-luminous paint. The painting was done by women at three different factories, and the term now applies to the women working at the facilities: one in Orange, New Jersey, beginning around 1917; one in Ottawa, Illinois, beginning in the early 1920s; and a third facility in Waterbury, Connecticut)
Enjoy,
Mark
It is said that they licked their brushes when painting to keep them pointed.
I will check it out. I know the story.

Yes. Definitely emphasized in the film.

Thanks Mark - it's always what you don't know you don't know that gets you. Plan on watching.
Thanks Mark, I'll check it out.
Meanwhile, last night I finished the docuseries "Night Stalker" on Netflix. I'm sure most of you in here will remember that horrible story. Very moving and emotional documentary. Highly recommended.
Yea, and thank god for O.S.H.A. regulations that enforces a safe working environment.....

It’s a very compelling story. A little bragging here - About 3 years ago our local theatre put on the play, Radium Girls. Our then 14 year old and very shy granddaughter blew us away in the role of Marie Curie complete with fabulous accent. The youngest member of the troupe played the oldest member of the story.

Yea for her! I think you are confused. That was the movie, Radium. Radium Girls is a different movie.
Mark
Thanks Mark - I will check it out the upcoming week since the weather will be turning colder after today. . .

I just watched it! Really good movie. I may have to watch it again. Thanks for the recommendation.

Mark!
Thanks for the heads up about this movie. I'll check it out. Along these lines is a 2019 film, Dark Waters with Mark Ruffalo (yes, the Avengers Hulk character as well!) as a local lawyer fighting Dupont who had a plant in West Virginia making Teflon coated cookware. Its production is poisoning the local water supply. My wife who's from West Virginia took interest after an article in the Sunday NY Times Magazine about this David vs Goliath story.
Great movie. Don't know if it's on any streaming service yet.
Be well! Ed

Now I AM confused. I thought you were talking about the movie Radium Girls while I referred to the play Radium Girls. Same story about the girls getting cancer from painting the watches.
