The arrival of my Adobe 2021 book, I really need a book to get the most use from Photoshop.
I have tried to use the how to videos, to no avail. They move way to fast for me to keep up with them and no audio does not help.I have signed up for a webniar by DXO, but it will probably move to fast for also.
I preordered the book earlier this month on Amazon, $69.95 with my CC rewards it ended up costing me just a bit over $25. MY last book on PS was for CS6 and it was very easy to use and understand.
Supposed to be here by Saturday , But I'm hoping .

Have you checked out Photobacks.com (www.photobacks.com). You can enroll in 'Pixel U' for about $100/year. They have regular webinars showing various techniques given by experts that work with Photoshop everyday. And they've recently started a new series of instructional videos "From Camera to Portfolio" where one of the experts takes an image all the way from 'out of the camera' to 'ready for the portfolio', explaining the thought process along the way. All of the instructional material is stored on their site so you can go back and reference it later. They also include monthly 'pixel pack' downloads which include some of their Photoshop templates and extras. I've found it well worth the investment.

You have and understand Ps CS6 and a book, but you need a new 2021 book for Ps Classic? Not encouraging to me. I still have Ps CS6, use it daily but may want to move to a subscription to get the new and updated feature. Is it really so different that would need a book?

I moved to the subscription the first of last year and actually it was very easy and a damned sight cheaper, My CS6 upgrade cost me $700.
There have been a lot of changes and addition since CS6 and I don't do well with changes (well some of them)
My 81 year old memory is getting bad these days that so I need all the help I can get. This once I learn how to do something I can mark the chapter in the book and look back when I forget

Good luck, Frank. We all learn in different ways.

Kelby has a subscription service which I’m sure has photoshop and much more for about $150 per year. Check it out.

Sounds like a good idea Frank! I'm pretty much convinced that no matter how much I learn it will still only be about 10% of what Photoshop is capable of.

Just wondering why no audio? Lynda has plenty of tutorials about Photoshop. Short segments with accompanying photos to work along with the segment. And someone explaining it as if they were sitting next to you. I usually watch one of the 3-4 minute segments all the way through then start over and stop and start as needed. Lynda is free via many local libraries. I find most books worthless and have a thick book for Photoshop that I have found to be virtually worthless. (That's jus me), some find them really valuable, but they become obsolete very quickly.

I agree on this with you. There's just something about having a book that video and even PDF's don't compare to. Perhaps I'm showing my age however using books was how I was taught to learn.

What I find difficult about reading a PDF Book on the computer is that I can only see a page or bit of a page at a time. I equate it to reading a book through a peephole. I can quickly thumb through a book, view pictures, go forward and back, etc. etc. Yes, I know that a PDF can do that and even more yet they still are not the same.

Another vote for books (actual paper books). I hate e-books, videos etc for trying to learn something.

Someone suggested we all learn in different ways. I have to perform an operation as I'm being told how to do it, or I'll never remember the steps. I use my macbook to run a tutorial (which I can pause) while I perform the editing operation being discussed on my desktop machine. Frequently will write the "recipies" on a 3x5 note card to come back too later.
