Jupiter and Saturn Conjunction

I know I am a little late to the party but it's been a busy few weeks.
This was shot with my Celestron C8 and my Canon 7D Mark ii.
I shot using the video mode with a 2X Barlow and converted it to AVI using PIPP.
I stacked 400 images out of 1200 frames using Autostakkert2.
I then ran it through Registax6 to enhance the sharpness with the wavelet adjustment.
Final processing was completed in Photoshop.
I doubt if I will ever be able to image both of these planets in one frame again.
Over all I am pretty happy with the results.
Stay safe...
Jim

Nice work. I would recommend selectively brighten Saturn if possible. I found that taking multiple different exposures and then compositing the image works well when you have large difference in brightness. Here are some example links where I used this process.
The first link was to bring out Jupiter's moons

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-611819-2.html <- On page 2 of this link I have a more detailed description.

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-679025-1.html <-better shot of the conjunction (detailed discussion lower on the page).

Stay safe old friend.

Thank you.
I was wanting to show how things looked through the eyepiece.
I have done many composite photos but wanted Jupiter to be the star.
Stay safe...

Nice image, especially considering it was done with an 8" scope. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Yep, as good as can be expected with this freak-out the media hypes up.
One daughter sez USC Hospital is ~60% capacity, and small amount is Covid 19. (Inside news)
We just take our precautions, and are promoting recall of our Governor.

I am having a great time with the new mount. Getting great images.

Hope you are getting some clear skies and the time to play at least a little bit.
Keep your mounts moving!

Starting to beat on Orion and working on issues with my 6” SCT.
It really is doing well visually but I am picking up nasty flares in the camera corners. I had this once before but don’t remember what I did to get rid of it.
In the meantime I picked up a very nice Lunt 102 doublet that I am hoping to try out tonight.
Fingers crossed that I have everything I need to get photons onto my sensors.
Stay safe.

Jim, great job on the conjunction...it’s a lot tougher than one would think.

Thank you very much.
I have a thing about merging photos and really don't like to do it very often.
I did think about it for this event but changed my mind.
Stay safe out there..
