In your Web browser, type, "What to do in (locale)." This search will return a boatload of info.

If you rent a car.....do not leave anything in it while it is unattended. Property crimes rates are high and they are considered low priority by law enforcement so theft in incentivised.

I go to Bolsa Chica quite often over the last couple of months, still a "rookie" learning the different birdies and tide tables and such. There are two entrances to the site; one off of Warner and one off of PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). Both are worth trekking, but the PCH entrance will give you more bang for the buck, more, closer, water. It's a popular place so getting a parking spot may be an issue (I will fudge once in awhile and park in the striped zone(s) cuz my car is small). Best combo for me is my D500 and the 200-500 f5.6 but I've done good work with a Z50 with a 70-200 f2.8 too...really up to you, if you're experienced you'll know what's up. PM me and maybe we can meet up!

Fly into LBO if possible. Nothing nature-wise to see in Seal Beach but nice main street. Eat at Walt's Wharf, if open. Pier is also nice walk.

As to Bolsa Chica, go south on PCH about 20 minutes and make left turn into parking lot. Big lens most helpful. Brown pelicans can be caught in flight and Black-crowned Night Heron hidden to your right at entrance point. May be a bit chilly but nothing a light jacket wouldn't cure.

...one correction here: if you're southbound on PCH you can't turn directly (left) into the parking lot, you need to go another half-mile or so and make a U-turn.

Your right! No left turn lane there, but parking lot on left. I stand corrected. Usually approach from the south so make quick right turn.
