Strange problem with Nikon P900

My P900 is draining batteries even when it's switched off? I have three batteries and it happens to them all. If I take the battery out it retains it's charge so it's definately the camera that is discharging the batteries even though it's off. I wonder if anyone has any idea what is going on? Thanks in advance.

Have you shut off the option for the camera to communicate with your laptop/computer? I had enabled that feature on my D500 and it was drawing the battery down until I disabled that feature.

It might also be that since the P900 is enabled with GPS capabilities, there is a slow draw down on the battery since it remotely "monitors" its location. At least that is what happens with my GP-1 GPS unit attached to my D500 even when the camera is off.

Also, I believe power draw on GPS, and Wi-Fi can increase with low signal strenght. This where and how camera is stored could cause problems, metal box, roof? We have no cell phone service here and found leaving the cell phone resulted in very rapid drainage.
