Need the high mp & focus stacking? If not the D500, =10 fps out of the box. You need to spend near another 1k on top of the D850 purchase to get 9 fps with the D850. Depends what you shoot & your budget.

As far as cards go, have you thought of making them yourself? Cut them to the size you want, write down the instructions for each setting, and laminate them.

True but all it would take are hours of research in the manual, going through Steve Perry's videos for tips, and then editing, printing, and laminating.

Nothing like putting in the time to learn the stuff you need to know. Cards and cheat sheets get in the way of taking pictures. HDR, Pano and Focus stacking are all possible in the camera but are better done in post processing than in camera. Programming the camera for one type of image may be wrong for another type. And so on.

I suggest you take one feature you want to learn and just spend a day or two learning it, then move on to the next.

I'm 70, and I still approach new gear as I describe. Learn/own the concept vs learning the steps.

While I agree that the actual process of focus stacking is better done in software the D850, (which doesn’t do in camera focus stacking), has the focus shift function that really simplifies taking the images you want to stack.

I think you're complicating things. Start with the settings that you use, not everything in the book. If you want to do something new, create a card for that specific thing. One thing at a time.

Y'all make me want to get a D850, but I can't decide whether I should get that or the D500.

Do it. D850 or Z7 II for the win.

I Like all the links posted here. I’ll use a combination. Me being north of 80 takes me a while to remember things. I feel rather stupid at times because I forget so quickly and takes me a while of repeating steps over and over to get where I want to be

I love my Nikon D850 and amaze at all of its capabilities. Trouble is each, shall I say special function (HDR, Focus Stacking, Macro, etc) require & suggest certain menu settings and recommended ranges in the settings. I may be able to program each of the 4 Custom Settings Menus for all or a part of these capabilities however that leaves some perimeters open.

As I am north of 65, and do not have the capability to create additional memory space in my fragmented brain, I seek "pocket cards" that briefly state the D850 camera setup for HDR, Focus shift, etc.

Do they exist?

Do you have a smart phone? If so, download the manual from Nikon and view it with their manual viewer.

I made my own. 3x5 cards, printed off on a computer, punch a hole in a corner and use a pronged fastener. Add, remove, or modify content as your knowledge base grows.
