Trying or best. I loved your photo of Portland harbor frozen ... We spent a month on the east coast and Nova Scotia a few years ago. Love love love that country (not in winter). We were there in September. Really loved Portland. One of the best restaurants we ate at was down in the old part of town.

Yes, I love this area too. It is unusual for the harbor to freeze like that - it required use of icebreaking ships to keep the harbor open that year. I feel fortunate to live here. You must have eaten in the Old Port and I wonder which restaurant. Portland ME is supposed to have the highest # of restaurants per capita of ____ ( can't remember now if of the US or New England" or what). Would you believe many have been ingenious in using outdoor spaces for dining even in winter months - people love it. Unfortunately, many restaurants and eateries have tanked during pandemic.

What happen got published in the local magazine. Sadly they messed up the captions mixing it up with the article.

This is the homepage-section of the publisher. Most photos are clearer but the header is missing;

This is the online magazine where the captions were turned into quotes and mixed with the story on pages 32-33;
https://issuu.com/outdooruae/docs/dec.2018-jan.issue2019

So I made an edited version of how it should be printed.

In preparing for the challenge, I tried something in my "outdoor studio" while waiting for the Cold Moon to show up.A fancy pale green goblet, some ice cubes, flashlight, and deck light...grabbed some ice cubes, threw some icy snow on them and.... I did change camera's WB setting to incandescent (I think that was the WB I used). The "blueberry" is the light on a neighbor's barn approx 1/10th mile away. I decided to play with the Blueberry...which looked like a "Blue Moon". For the last one, I used several different editing programs.

Iced Lobster traps on one of the fish piers. Frozen shore at sunset and a frozen faucet drip. The last image - a tangle of broken traps and pieces of rope - was selected for publication in the local University's Senior College (Osher LifeLong Learning Institute) 20th Anniversary Edition. I was pretty pleased.

p.21 That's a huge gaggle of geese, Lavone. Like the way the wind affected the frost on the berries.
