I recently bought a new lens for my D7200, though I already had the newest 18-55 and 55-200 kit lenses. I was dissatisfied with kit lenses performance. I mostly used the D7200 with long FX lenses for wildlife, at which pursuit it did an excellent job, for example yesterday's Eagles. AF S Nikkor 18-140 3.5 5.6 G ED arrived this morning, and on first trial shots, appears to be exactly what I was looking for, relatively small and light, and roughly equivalent in use to 28-200 FX. Seems quite sharp. Planned uses, tucked into the corner of the hard case when I go out with the FX 200-500 5.6 or as my lightest DSLR walk around combo.

Big Sky - wonderful light most of the time. My dogs have two human servants for the three of them - me and my Wife!

I got a 18 140mm with my first d7100. I use it on my d500 now and think it is nicely sharp and lite. I agree with you. Lol

I liked the 18-140mm as my walk around lens for my D7000. When I bought my D500 I couldn't resist the deal I got on 16-80mm. Now that is my walk around lens. I mostly shoot in the 17-70mm range anyway.

Man the dog with red collar, what breed is it and how much does he weigh, I have a female and from front face can pass for him. Mine is over a100lbs, think she has some ridgeback in her.

He is a purebred Rhodesian, around 115 lbs. if I recall his last physical. I was very lucky to get him, if he wasn't missing a tiny curl at the front of his ridge, I couldn't have afforded him and he'd have gone to be a show dog.

I got that 18-140mm lens when I bought a D5600 a couple years ago. I still use it sometimes on my D850, since it gives me a wide range of focal lengths, when I do not want to carry more than the camera and just one lens. On the D850, it still leaves me a ton of pixels to play with, even if it's a DX lens on an FX body.

Thanks for the info - I have FX covered both with AF and old AI. Needed something like this for the D7200 and possibly even the D2x.

I figured it looked like a pure breed, mine is rescued from a shelter not pure but last time at Vet was 125 1bs and now on diet for 2 months. She is a power house, but she looks just like your puppy from front. you could get really confused if you saw the pic. God bless him, enjoy ass they are fun dogs...

One warning - 2 Rhodesians together are something to contend with, when my son comes out with his, they play fight full time. People who weren't alert were easily been knocked down. Also, I'm not afraid of dogs, but getting between the two when the play fight approaches the real thing is no place for anyone who isn't confident!
