Hey guys, haven't posted on here in a long time but... I am considering purchasing the Pentax DA 560mm f/5.6 ED HD AW to use on a Pentax K1II full frame. Any experiences on here with this combination, pros, cons etc? If so where did you purchase it? Don't knock me for being a "Pentaxian"! I bought my first 35mm in the 70's and stayed with the system.

When you absolutely must have that reach.
Yes its expensive, but no where near what the other manufacturers similar lenses cost. Pentax products are good value for money, and there are no cheap shortcuts with this lens. It can be used with a regular ball head tripod, however once you use it on a properly balanced gimbal head, you won't go back.
It's the old story, you must pay for quality.

Do you own or have used this combination?

I have one and have used it occasionally on my K1 successfully, but not often. The beast really does want a gimbal head though.. I primarily use the K1 for astro shooting.
Go to Pentaxforums.com where you will find a friendly community of Pentaxians, and quite likely a user report or two on that lens.
Oh, yes. Don't apologize for shooting Pentax. The AsahiFlex, predecessor of the Pentax line, predated Nikon and Canon's SLR offerings by several years. I am the custodian of an AsahiFlex IIb, which resembles a screw mount Leica with a folding waistlevel viewfinder added. Wonderful fit and finish.

I'm considering one as well.
Although using my 150-450mm with a 1.4x teleconverter (on aps-c) gives me more reach, I'm not quite satisfied with the resolution. The 560mm is now on Sale at SRS Microsystems, UK....Tempting..Need to be quick though. Offer only valid till 3/1/2021... On the K1 it will cause some vignetting (which can be fixed in post)
I have one that is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. They went on sale in US but while I was thinking it over most of the shops sold out. I was able to grab the last one at Amazon. A big investment but we will see. It may take a while but when I get some test shots I will post.

Looking forward to see some samples!!!
I had one, it worked great. I have since switched to Nikon. I still have a Pentax K3II. I have a Sigma 500mm, F4.5 that I am wanting to sell. I paid $5000.00 from B&H maybe 6 years ago. I am wanting to sell this lens for $2500.00. the lens is great, very sharp images. If you might be interested contact me. I will send pics, glass is perfect and so is the body. I put a "Lens coat" on the lens as soon as I received it. This would be included with the purchase. I have not used for over a year now that I'm shooting with Nikon. I used for bird photography and the reach was great. You would not notice much of a difference between 500mm and the 560mm. It is a trade off between reach and speed. The images are very sharp with this Sigma lens. I can show a copy of the original receipt for this lens.
I would have seriously considered your offer. There are good reviews on that Sigma. The Pentax is supposed to arrived today though, so I am hoping for the best there. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for your reply, maybe another Pentax used might be interested.
You might try Pentax forums, they also have a page for used gear, that way you would be targeting Pentax users.

Consider phototrio.com also. I've bought through them, good experiences.
