Another lefty here. I shoot rifles right-handed. When I was in the service, firing an M1 carbine with the shells going down the back of my neck caused me to shoot right-handed. Being right eye dominant is a problem when trying to shoot billiards left-handed, but no problem bowling. Flying: control yoke in left hand, right hand for throttle, mixture, radios, GPS, etc.

When I was in the Army, the M16 had a similar problem, but they had developed a guard for left-handed shooters that prevented the hot shells going down their necks.

As the retired President of the Skil Power Tool Company, I am disturbed by your reference to Skilsaws throwing dust into the eyes of a left hander. First, anyone using a tool like that MUST wear googles for safety! So sawdust thrown into the eye should not be a problem unless you are throwing sawdust in a strange direction. Secondly, "Skil" is spelled with one "l." Third, I don't know if you are referring to all hand held portable circular saws or a specific design like the famous, seldom copied, and very popular Skil Worm Drive Saw used frequently by roofers and others in the building trades, but I thank you for the name recognition.

By the way, I am left-handed and learned years ago that I had to adjust to a right handed world. For photography--and I am old enough so that my earlier cameras were all manual, I found it easy to use my right hand for the camera trigger and, maybe, focus ring and my other hand to do most of the other adjustments. Also I learned early to use a remote, corded, trigger which allowed me to use either hand to fire the camera. I thought it was an advantage to be left hand dominate.

Well, then you should know that your word drive saw, other companies as well are terrible to use left handed. You have to lean to the left over the saw to see what you are cutting.

And, I have never seen a carpenter where safety goggles using a saw. Like most power tools Skill products are built solely for right handers. Hand held circular saws are terrible for left handers to use. Can't believe that a president of the company wouldn't make their product better for left handers when they are left handed themselves.

You are right about adapting to a right handed world though. Many power tools force you to use them right handed. Chain saws are especially bad left handed, but I don't use one of them nearly as much so didn't mention them in the first post.

I am a lefty and have had some sort of camera since I was in grade school. I never thought much about them being set up for right handed people. I also collect antique cameras. I believe the Exacta VX series film cameras had the shutter button and film advance on the left. That is the only one I have ever seen.

I am a southpaw, and can state that I am equally inept with either hand. No problem

Oh yeah I'm left handed all the time. I just taught myself to shoot with my left eye as my right does not work as good as it use to. Caught this Ring Bill Gull with my new Canon 6r. It's tracking and eye detection on moving subjects is a real game changer.

No & easily. Personally I never heard of a left/right eyed camera, just use the eye which is dominate. I'm Lefty cause I wright lefty, however I happen to be ambidextrous. I actually do more detailed work with my right hand. I swing a bat/golf club righty, kick a ball righty If I were hanging from something I would trust my right hand over my left. Whether you are right or left eye dominate...I don't think it has anything to do with being left or right handed. You use the eye that is dominate to focus, as far as the buttons, you take what the manufacture gives and learn to use it. One way to test which eye is dominate, try the link below.

BTW, I'm Right eye dominate as a lefty.

Almost all right-handers are right eye dominant. Also, the majority of left-handers are right eye dominant.

So, true that hand dominance has little to do with eye dominance. (I’m a pediatric ophthalmologist.)

I'm not left-handed, but AM left-EYED. Makes it just about impossible to use BBF. Have absolutely no idea how I managed to use my left eye for photography. Must have started about the time I got my Brownie when I was about 10. No way can I re-train myself to use my right eye to look through the view-finder.

I am a RH guy with dry macula degen in fight eye and wet md in left eye. Because of this limitation, I am forced to use my left eye for shooting. I have adapted and am not bothered by this requirement.

Misread your comment as "let my nose move the focus point on my D7200!" I was quite impressed for a moment.

All the way lefty except fly casting a torn rotar cuff taught me to use the dumb hand. No problems with the camera controls except for remembering the turns in the heat of the moment

Not sure if it is natural or due to a right handed world but my experience is that many left handed people are much more ambidextrous than right handlers. There are some who are extremely left handed but most seem to naturally do some things left and some right handed and for new skills it can be learnt either way.

there is some kinda connection between being left-handed and becoming an engineer. When I wasabout 10 a fortune teller at Atlantic city told me I was going to be an engineer, sumpin I did not know at the time, I asked him "?" and he connected left-handed ness..

I am a total lefty, everything I do - hand, leg eye.
No problem with the camera. Groing up in Cuba ( and not having much of anything) I even played baseball with a glove for right handes and was very good with it.
Here is a bit of fact: EVERYONE IS BORN RIGHT HANDED, JUST A FEW OF US OVERCOME THAT PROBLEM.
