Coloration looks like the red eared slider but with the head turned that way, the red markings to confirm are not apparent. Either way, great catch

Red Eared Sliders were indigenous to mostly eastern North America.
They are now classified as a globally invasive species.

We always called them a painted turtle. Got lots of them in Virginia. Great picture.

Red eared slider. The butterfly is very attracted to the sodium in the turtleโ€™s tears.
