In his defense, he never said the guy wasn't wearing a seat belt, he just said the door kept flying open on turns. The guy also said that the Yugo made him a believer when it came to seat belts.

And...and I didn't say that "HE' was stupid. What I said was excaltly what I wrote.

No offense meant as I also said to anyone.

Buddy 36 - I guess we're both right. It's purely a matter of semantics.

You're here, you're logical and you're experienced. That's all that counts.

Buddy, I bet Sam Walton didn't have some long degree and look how successful he was. Education doesn't guarantee wisdom.

Agreed! I was foolish enough to buy a second-hand Vega, and it was without question the worst car I ever owned. Now I drive a Prius and it's the best car I've ever owned.

The first time I saw a Yugo I was working on a ship that traveled from Bar Harbor Maine to Yarmouth Nova Scotia. Got to talking with the owner and asked him what he thought of the car .His answer was "Well it certainly stands up to it's name,You go broke trying to keep the@#!$%% on the road.

Right now I have a Honda CR-V and a Saturn. Both dependable and give me good mileage.

I recall an ad from a Cadillac dealer - Buy a Caddy, get a Yugo free!

Re Ron K and his Chevy Vega.
When our sons were younger I bought one of them a Chevy Vega.
I thought the body styling was good, but of course later found out how bad the engine was. It had aluminum cylinders which lasted at best about 39K miles....we bought it with 31K miles on the clock!
One of my sons was swimming in a local sand pit and lost the Vega keys in the water. He called me to relate what happened and after chewing him out for being at the sand pit I finally called a Key Smith to see if he would go to the sand pit and get the car started.
He said to me "what kind of car is it?" T told him it was a Vega and he said "wouldn't be easier to just push the car in the sand pit"!

The worse vehicle I ever owned was a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 Extended Cab Shortbed Pick up. Bought it brand new when I was stationed at Ft Bragg, NC. In 3 years it went through 3 - transmissions and 2 - 5.9 litre Cummins turbo diesel engines, the turbo kept exploding. (something about the boost control modulator being bad)

The happiest day of my life was when the Dodge was stolen and totalled in a single car accident. Bought a Ford F-250 FX4 4X4 Powerstroke diesel 2 days later with what the Gekko paid me.

Same type of suspension as the Corvair so it was prone to roll. Light front end so it was prone to severe understeer.

Ok, stop with the Ralph Nader Kool-aid - no one ever rolled a Corvair - EVER , without trying REAL HARD ! My dad followed a Shelby GT-350 15 miles on a windy secondary road, and the guy couldn't shake him ! At the light, he left 50' of rubber, and Dad just chuckled all the way home.
My worst car? my Mom talked me into buying her friends bare-bones Gremlin. Say that with me -a Gremlin.. . . like introducing the Nova in Mexico!

I guess after really thinking about it, I have never really had what one would call a bad or worse car. I was lucky that I worked for so many dealers during my first 66 years of my life and I had many choices to get a few good ones ( used ).
However I do recall one...Somewhat... A NEW International Scout in 1966. Almost from the first day of driving it started to act up. It took me almost three weeks to find out that there was dirt in the fuel bowl. Now how did that happen and there was no reason to suspect that was the issue. A gas station jocky found the problem after first having it at the Dearler for a full day to no avail. After putting a plow on it and pushing snow for two winters I became fond of it until one of the Chicago Cub players fell in love with it and made me an offer that I could not refuse and I sold it.
