For those weighing whether to keep or purchase Luminar AI, I want to share my decision and reasons (IMHO)
.. I a medium-level skilled on most features of Lightroom and enjoy control
.. have used Luminar since its inception as a plug-in to Lightroom
.. most used Luminar features used: 1) erase, 2) sky replacement, 3) AI enhance & Looks (for ideas)
.. most 'disappointing' features: 1) DAM, 2) Crop, 3) Level
AI 'observations'
.. Templates are okay - nothing special and most seem over HDR look
.. AI does enhance but seems to not actually save time or PP - I sitll PP back in Lightroom
.. no cursor roll-over preview for Sky Options (have to select sky to see impact) - same with Template option
.. constant ads 'to get the most out of Luminar AI'
.. tech support is either overwhelmed (why?) or there is only a few dedicated in Skylum
Adobe Lightroom 'observations' or comparisons
.. just learned that Photoshop has new Sky Replace - quick, easy, advanced, has previews
.. avoided PS erase and but learned 2 step 'content aware fill' workflow ... GREAT! to remove unwanted objects
.. DAM is damn good - I can find anything
.. Lr native presets are very much like AI and many free presets are online
.. Adobe support is 5 mins away - start with chat, they remote in if needed and stay on till resolved
I need to further explore Photoshop for those select few features tot offerhat I need and Lr does not offer.
You left one out about Lightroom.
Adobe 'brands' their version of AI as "Adobe Sensai". About a year (?) ago they modified the 'Auto' button in the Develop module to include Sensai. Improvements over the previous and dumber Auto were obvious, especially with RAW. You can put Auto, a little sharpening and a little noise reduction into a home baked preset and apply it to all imports.
I'm thinking about requesting a refund also, (and since they have a 30-day money guarantee) I'll wait until Jan 12, 2021, to make my final decision. I bought this program to assist me with portraits additional processing which was based on a Youtube video I saw on Oct. 28, 2020, from Anthony Morganti. This video was showing the features of the pre-release version. The feature that I liked was the local mask function to isolate people in a portrait and perform various actions on that one person in the group, e.g., eye color. Well, that function was not available final release on Dec. 15th. and this is a game-changer. I looked on their Community Forum and all it states is that feature does not exist. Well they have until Jan. 12, to produce it.

Good luck if you can communicate with these gunsters.
I requested a refund about a month before Ai came out. After reading about it, and seeing some videos, I decided it was not for me. They asked why,and I told them. They then suggested I wait to download it, and give it 30 days. I said no, and said I wanted my refund, and I did get it. After that I removed Luminar 4 from my i mac and went back to on1. I am glad that I asked for and received my refund

If I could get my money back I would. I think it is no better than 4 and I think they called it a new program to get out of calling it an upgrade and for the benefit of generating additional revenue. I feel cheated and will not darken their doors again. I think they took advantage of users.
